He said they're a home-run type team. Seems like it'd have to be Air Force, Nebraska or OSU. Everyone else is terrible and/or runs a boring Big Ten type offense

Summary: Our defense last year lacked a lot of playmakers besides Jake Ryan, but we did not take many chances or gamble much so limited big plays and forced teams to sustain long drives to score.  Opponents had a lot of respect for Jake Ryan and Jordan Kovacs. Ryan was the one player on our defense that had to be accounted for.

MSU and PSU were two defenses that were singled out as having multiple playmakers that could hurt you last year. Based on the comments, I am guessing most came from either OSU or Northwestern.

To add:

Frank Clark played pissed off vs them.  Had to bring TE or extra blocker to help b/c blocking him 1 vs 1 wasn't working.  He might have been the best DE in the conference, but he didn't play like that every single week.

Blake Countess has swag and would attack balls thrown his way.  Other corners were good, but would not go for picks.

i'm not going to paste anything from a paywalled article. i've been banned there before for msg board posts and lost access to content that i paid for.

Wow really guys? 9 downvotes for not violating the terms of my Rivals account? Screw all of you. Go smoke a bowl or something. You don't get what you don't pay for.

See the post from "Leaders and Best" above.  If you're going to link a paywalled article, at least that level of effort is going to be required.  Otherwise, you're not providing anything of use.  Those that have subscriptions don't need to be told that there is an article, they would have found that on their own since they are paying good money for that service.

The general rule here - a matter of board etiquette really - is to at least quote a select section of th article while leaving something of value for those that do have subscriptions to visit, but enough that perhaps the non-paying population here could engage in some discussion. In this case, perhaps some select quotes regarding the defense would have been appropriate. Do feel free to edit your original post and add some - I can leave this thread just in case.

Then why start the thread here? Seems more appropriate to just keep the discussion to Rivals board if you're just going to basically say "here's a really cool article, too bad y'all can't read it...".
