Final Four Rings
Players receive them today.
I'm desperate to hear basketball news...especially after last summer's tantalizing tidbits like "the freshmen beat the upperclassmen in 1-on-1 scrimmages", etc.
5-on-5 scrimmages right?
Yes, my bad
In their defense they were not wearing the proper shoes to poze like this...
Yea, but imagine if they posed like that
They've been shaving for a year now and cut themselves both times.
Anybody have a closer image of the ring? Curious to see the design and level of iciness.
Also, just dawned on me that GRIII has something that the Big Dog never got. How cool is that for him.
Own question answered.
What could have been...
give out rings for not even winning anything in football last year?
Considering only 4 schools a year go to the final four, it represents an accomplishment. There are only 4 teams that win BCS bowls, too. They get rings.
5 teams win BCS bowls.
And there are far more teams competiing in D-I college basketball than FBS football. Making the Final Four is really, really hard to do.
Regional championship >>> conference championship
I had no idea that there was such a thing. A Final Four ring. Big Ten championship, yes. Big Ten Tournament champions, okay. National Championship, of course.
Does Miss Congeniality get a ring? Well, nevermind.
I think this is part of the youth soccer generation. Everybody gets a ring or a trophy. Either that, or Jostens is finding new markets when fewer people are buying class rings.
The "youth soccer generation" includes people conceived during the Kennedy administration.
That's a 1986 ring, possibly from Kansas. In all seriousness, I don't see how getting a ring is different than cutting down nets and hanging banners, and if I'm remembering correctly there are Final Four banners up in Crisler dating back to 1964.
I could be wrong, but I don't see any precious stones on the 2013 version.
Yeah, I like the '86 one better. I don't like how the 2013 one has the NCAA logo front and center.
Well whaddya know, it looks like Hyde may have slapped that girl after all.
Is there new information out? If you'd like, and have credible info, I can make a thread as it does seem to spawn discussion around here. Credit would be to you, of course.
Yes. Fox 8 is now reporting that he did indeed hit the victim, though it may have been in retaliation. They claim to have people who have personally viewed the surveillance video.
This story is just full of twists and turns. Did a search for Fox 8 and Carlos Hyde and didn't turn up any links to that story, so in the name of not speculating it's probably best to leave it be....
Probably. Who the hell knows what's true at this point.
Gabe Speigel is the one reporting it, and he's generally been on top of things, but he's not exactly Bob Woodward either.
EDIT: Here is a first-hand account from someone who watched the video. The is probably reputable enough to post a thread about if anyone were interested:

Stay classy Ohio !
If I can't bash our rival on mGOblog where the hell can I? What's this world coming too?
-If Michigan had a bowl ban and went undefeated, I'd like to think those players and coaches would deserve something to commemorate a hell of an achievement.
Peace go blue!
Why is Levert choking himself?
Those are some nice looking rings.
Here's Glenn Robinson III showing off his ring. Most of the Instagram comments are about the state of his fingers, however. Cool rings, and well-deserved for all on this team. A tribute to some very hard work that produced excellent results.
I think the NCAA gives the players these rings along with other swag from the Final Four. I am pretty sure the team will also get rings from the school that will be designed by the team.
Final Four watch from Spike Albrecht's Instagram:
The fellas look good sporting their new swag. Spike is certain to score that date with Kate Upton now.
