Hopefully Alex Rodriguez is up next. I like the Yankees but Alex has been useless post-WS championship. Plus the Tigers sympathizers would probably agree. Alex Rodriguez is garbage and I'm not complaining if they suspend him long term. He might as well retire now.

If he gets 100 games like some are saying, A-Rod will lose around 15 million dollars. The speculation was that his contract could be voided but that is not true, as long as he continues to play the Yankees will still have to pay him for the rest of his contract.

Well the question is what now happens to Jhonny Peralta and Nelson Cruz? Braun and A-Rod were the sacrificial lambs in this debate but far from being important members to contending teams so it'll be intersting to see what happens to Jhonny and Cruz.

I took this as being very selfish on Braun's part again.  Without proper research into the documents at Biogenesis Braun has accepted his punishment.  You now have players on contending teams, MLB, and MLBPA put in awkard positions. MLB now has a precedent for players named in the report.  I don't know if Braun could have waited to accept his suspension, but I think that since he's a member of the union, he should have spoke with MLBPA to see what would be best for everyone.  I'm not even a Tigers fan, I'm an Indians fan, but I can see where Tigers fans would be pretty frustrated to lose Peralta or the Rangers losing Cruz.  The implications this has on the playoff race is being understated.

See i'm not sure Braun had much ground to stand on in general with his vehement denial stemming from last year, even though the whole world knows he only got off on a technicality.

The MLBPA came out last week and basically said they weren't going to support the players that had "overwhelming evidence against them." So I'm really not certain what's going to happen because Braun and A-Rod might be held to a higher standard seeing as the MLB might be looking at this as a 2nd offense, where as it would be a 1st for Cruz, and Peralta so the Players' Association might help them in an appeal thus staving off the suspension until next season.

The following question to that is, if you're Cruz or Peralta do you take the suspension now, seeing as you're going to be a free agent this summer? I'm inclinded to think they might seeing as they wouldn't really be able to sign a good deal with a suspension hanging over them.

Ask Melky how that works out though. You basically become a pariah in the locker room. They are going to lose money either way I think. Just a matter of whether or not you want to continue proving that you can play without the use of roids or not.  I would be more willing to sit the 50 games next year and use this season to show my ability to play without PEDs and then treat next season as sort of starting the season the 60 Day DL...but that's just me.

I am guessing Braun was not one of them. Each player suspected of using PEDs in the Biogenesis case had a different amount of evidence against them.  Based on the evidence, MLBPA said there were certain cases they would fight in arbitration.

That is not what the MLBPA said. They said they would not fight for any players where there was overwhelming evidence that the player used PEDs.

"Last week, Weiner said that the MLBPA wouldn't fight for any players that might be suspended when faced with overwhelming evidence exists that they used performance-enhancing drugs."

Think about the number of key players on World Series teams over the last 15 years that had used PEDs (and in many cases they were more prominent than Peralta). Actually it was pretty commonplace. A significant number of Yankees from their 1998-2000 and 2009 championship teams were implicated in the Mitchell Report.

Roger Clemens, Jason Giambi, A-Rod, Andy Pettitte, Manny Ramirez, David Ortiz, Troy Glaus, Ivan Rodriguez, Melky Cabrera, Matt Williams, Scott Schoeneweis, Eric Gagne, Brendan Donnelly. In the cases of Manny Ramirez and Troy Glaus, they won World Series MVP.

I thought the title wording is ridiculous. Words mean things.

Let's peruse the board and alter the titles to fit your wordsmithing:

OSU's Carlos Hyde victimized by woman

OSU 5* S Vonn Bell victimized by open container of alcohol in hand

OSU 4* Freshman Tim Gardner arrested, victimized by his own obstruction

OSU Bradley Roby, victimized by parents for not conceiving him earlier, arrested for under-aged drinking

EDIT:  Thanks to the edit function, Blue Durham almost victimized by his own crappy spelling

well most stories i have heard about peralta are that he only went there for a consultation and if so he will not be suspended but many of players have lied, but i dont think jhonny did it what has it done for him if he did he hasnt had any great numbers before this year and i am sure this ahappened before this year so if he was trying to cheat it didnt work for him that is why i dont think he did it

CBS adds a little background to the suspension and the circumstances. Most notably, there is this:

"Braun met with MLB's investigators recently, and during that meeting the league reportedly laid out all of their evidence against him. Rather than go through an appeals process, Braun's side agreed to a plea deal and the negotiated suspension. Under the JDA, first time offenders get 50-game suspensions, second-timers get 100 games, and third-timers get lifetime bans."

Supposedly, his net loss of income would be something in the neighborhood of $3.5 million, and similar punishments may be imposed on as many as 20 players, according to this report.

This was a wasted season for Braun anyway, he had been injured and then was on the bereavement list recently. Giving up the last 65 games (other than the prorated pay) doesn't really hurt him that much.

The Brewers, on the other hand, lose a key player this year. Next year they will probably keep a roster spot open for him and will get a player, who most likely, will not deliver the same results as his past seasons (assuming he stays off the PEDs). They will probably be obligated to pay him the contract he earned based on the numbers he put up using PEDs. Talk about a crappy situation for the team.

Braun got out of his 1st positive test with a technicality.  Baseball made sure they collected all evidence this time.  He knows he is on a short leash and took the suspension to avoid airing out the dirty laundry.  ARoid is in the same situation and will not be back this year.

Guys like Cruz and Peralta, who have never been investigated before, are probably in better shape.  Look for an appeal from them.

Odds you pick up the phone from the guy that got you fired, and dragged your name through the mud?

Not surprising.  Had him on my fantasy team last year and was constantly terrified this would happen.  Will be interesting to see what other big names fall as a result of this investigation.

I hope Braun is man enough to have a press conference in the Brewers' stadium where he acknowledges his lies last year (or was it 2 yrs ago) and apologizes to the test collector for suggesting he had no intregrity.

Braun saw the writing on the wall and accepted a plea bargin for lack of a better word rather than risk a 100 day or worse suspension at a higher salary next year.  I read that the evidence against A-rod is much more substantial so I'm hoping he gets dropped even worse.   Lying multple times, allegedly trying to destroy evidence, etc.   A man (even if i'm a yankees fan) can hope he sees the writing on the wall and retires (due to injury of course) under some sort of settlement with MLB that they drop the case if he files his retirement papers.
