Semi-OT: Muschamp refers to "Ohio" in discussing reported violations
I have read that our staff is still friendly with Florida's staff, I don't know the actual connections or what is really there. I assume any contact comes as a result of Mattison's tenure. However, it seemed odd that Muschamp referred to "Ohio" at SEC media days when asked about being reported by Ohio to the NCAA. In fact he used the term twice in a statement. I imagine is it a way for him to dig in harder with his jab or he has become a Hoke-a-maniac, not sure.
"In both situations, we were turned in by Ohio. We didn't do anything wrong. The University of Florida didn't do anything wrong. And so we appreciated our friends from Ohio making sure we're compliant with NCAA rules. They certainly know a little bit about that subject."
All I can say is if your goal was to rally support for the OSU head coach on the board your post was probably an excellent start.
Not only one, or even two, but three "clever" scUM-esque phrases. I'm impressed and embarassed for you at the same time.
I don't get "ShitOhio." Shouldn't it be Ohio Shit?
I can't beleive I am even commenting on this. Must be that kind of day...
I think the finishing touch would be "Ohio $hit"
Is it just me or does the last word sound like something Lou Holtz would say anyway?
It's not funny when posted on the Mgoboard, but if Muschamp or any other coach said something like that in a press conference I would piss all over myself through laughter.
Does it hurt?
The triple exclamation points really puts the final garnish this train wreck of a post
"Lebriarj:" I can tell from your point total that you haven't posted much here. I would strongly advise that you pay attention to the things people do and don't do here.
Some general observations from someone who is coming up on the aforementioned 5-year mark:
Any post that looks like it was written on RCMB will be trashed. Posts with "cute nicknames" that aren't close to being cute will definitely get trashed. Use of gratuitous obscenities will be trashed. Posts that look like the poster was trashed when he wrote them will be trashed.
I'm sure you mean well, but it doesn't look like you got off to a very good start. You might want to simply observe for a couple of weeks, hope everyone has forgotten who you are, and come in with more appropriate comments.
I would imagine that you will have a lot more fun that way.
I hope you didn't text your ex-girlfriend also.
Wouldn't mind seeing Florida return the favor in reporting compliance issues.
Meyer besides the current teams fans. Nobody but UF liked him while he was there, no one really likes him now except Ohioans. Guess that could be said for almost all coaches who leave one big time gig for another though
Let's just say Urban has never really left on good terms.
Who cares about Meyer or Muschamp...what does Spurrier have to say?
We've been going six months with only recruiting news, Gordon Gee nuggets, and stories about coaches sniping each other. I agree with your sentiment, IHB.
And, with that, Will Muschamp just became my second favorite college football coach.
Who's first? Rock Chalk Chuck Weis?
Miss you, big guy.
The second one could be read that way, sure, but, "we were turned in by Ohio," is a pretty straightforward use of the Hokeism.
If it was only that second reference, then "Ohio" could have just been a reference to the state itself. But coming on the heels of that more deliberate use, the intent is pretty clear. Definitely zinged 'em.
Is it just me or is all this OSU media coverage nauseating? They're reaching a level only rivaled by Notre Dame....back when they were actually good.
That's how the media works though. Same reason you don't hear about players getting arrested at Western Kentucky...no one cares. OSU has become a monolith where everything they do is reported on by the media...only other school I can think of on that level is Notre Dame.
We're on that level, too (e.g., EXTRA STRETCHING? THINK OF THE CHILDREN!). Fortunately, we just don't seem to be doing as much bad or stupid stuff right now.
Football is so close to being back that we can almost taste it, and when meh stuff like this comes out, it only heightens our annoyance towards it. We don't want to hear anymore bland coachspeak; we don't want to hear more about OSU being prematurely crowned as 2014 BCS Champions, nor anything else about Johnny Football's latest twitter blunder. Just get the boys together and get them back on the field.
The Gainesville Sun had a decent writeup as well, and there is also a portion of the article where apparently, right after the jab at Meyer, someone asked Muschamp how responsible coaches were for off-the-field behavior, so the subtle digs continued, it seemed.
There was also this:
"Asked if it was strange that Meyer used to coach at Florida and then turned in the Gators, Muschamp replied: "Big Ten Media Days are next week. Ask him.""
I sincerely hope someone does. This could be fun.
Will Muschamp is now the most underrated head coach in college football
Not as long as Les Miles still draws breath.
Edit: Oops, I thought you said entertaining.
...Les Miles mispronounces half of the SEC teams in the conference. Down with off season pissing matches, up with actual news.
The enemy of my enemy is my homeboy.
I've always quietly rooted for UF since Urban left. Muschamp always seemed like a good dude (I seem to recall he's a pretty big opponent of oversigning), and Gainesville is awesome. This gives me cause to root a little bit louder on Saturdays...
Oh, and BEAT OHIO
No home-and-home will be scheduled between these two in the near future.
I just have to chuckle at how Coach Hoke's "ohio" (I refuse to capitalize it) has legs. It pleases me more that Muschamp referred to them as ohio than the fact that Meyer is a turncoat.
"And so we appreciated our friends from Ohio making sure we're compliant with NCAA rules. They certainly know a little bit about that subject."
ZIIING!!
I agree with a few other posters in that Muschamp is now my second favorite coach. Honestly that was hilarious. Thanks for posting.
