OT: Weekend drinking thread
It's a slow Michigan-news related week, so I will start the dreaded weekend drinking thread.
Waiting to goto Annapolis, MD for dinner (Red Red Wine, ACME, or the new place Factors Row) and oysters...
1) Firestone Double Jack IPA: Yikes, quite a kick. Feel every bit of the 9.5% ABV
2) DogfishHead 60 Minute IPA while my 61 Minute IPA chills in the fridge (great summer beer...just like the 90 Minute, though, comes in a 4-pack).
3) Fresh-squeezed limejuice Margarita with Patron Orange Liquer and Cuervo Silver.
Tomorrow will be AYCD Bloody Mary's and Mimosas for brunch in Fell's Point, Baltimore, followed by fresh steamed clams & mussels in a white-wine garlic/butter/chives sauce.
I am drinking water out of a green sports bottle. One of these days, hopefully before football season, I will actually get some beers, or even a glass of bourbon. We don't really have any bourbon glasses here, so it'd be odd for me to drink bourbon out of the typical mugs here
We finished cleaning out the lines in our kegerator. We bought a half barrel of 312 and a quarter barrel of Ruby Redbird yesterday, just waiting for it to settle before it can be used.
Long day climbing turbines in 105 degree heat. Its sailor jerry for me
I think we need another daily reminder that Rex Ryan has a foot fetish, lest we forget.
Sailor Jerry for now. Having a b-day party for my mother in law and she had me pick up a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue for the party - on her tab, thankfully. Just might have a sip of that late night.
I plan on over paying for bourbon later tonight at the St. Charles Exchange in Louisville.
back from the range. 4 large bags, tired as hell. Trying to overhaul an all-draw shot shape to an all-fade shape because I have become all hook/all the time and I am tired of it. Went with an Oberon 12 Pack. I have to say. I think reports of Oberon's demise have been greatly exagerated. It is tasting plenty good to me.
I've been fighting the rogue slice all year. Then yesterday on 18 Tee hit a really pretty Draw. Went right off the planet since I was already aiming left. Fucking game.
So, right now it's an exotic European booze concoction. Belgian Absinthe, 1/2 teaspoon over ice. Top with Pimms to whatever quantity suits you. Add a little club soda. For effervescence.
Helping soothe my summer head old.
If you don't have Pimms, try vodka, rum or grain. It really doesn't matter because they'll all taste like absinthe.
Drinking Ruby Redbird (comes in 12 pack cans now!) while waiting out my 4-hour delivery window for some shelving from The Container Store. Entering hour 4 now, predicting delivery sometime around 4:59 (CT). Ugh.
Beard of Zeus in fridge for after I'm done studying
Just drank my Grapefruit IPA homebrew I made last month. Will probably enjoy an Oskar Blues Chub, and my Amber Ale homebrew before the afternoon is over.
Not drinking, but watching the USMNT blunder its way to a 4-1 win over Cuba. That first half was pretty ugly.
Yeah that was ugly. Shea just ruined any chance he had of making the team.
Stop drinking. It's immoral and it is destroying your liver.
But what about hunting? We all know you condone that...
Eh I don't single out hunting in particular. I think all meat eating is extremely immoral.
Because you can't get any more red neck than that
Sure you can. Swap out the vodka for some Jack.
One sip and your sleeves magically disappear.
Speaking of Jack, I picked up a bottle of the Jack Daniels Honey yesterday for pregaming at the Americanarama concert yesterday(My Morning Jacket, Wilco and Bob Dylan...'twas incredible) and I mixed it with some lemonade and hot damn that is a delicious summer drink.
Not to thread jack, (but I'm going to thread jack) but has anyone heard any more info regarding Fournette? Was anything confirmed as far as which weekend he's actually visiting?
I don't know jack about Fournette.
He committed to Blue Mountain State yesterday.
Tough break.
A Yuengling while the case of Troegs Pale Ale chills.
A few Shellback rum and cokes and then some Coors Light.
Bud light, NCAA14, then Tigers.
God bless America
Sam Adams Porch Rocker.
I have fallen in love with this beer during the summer months. Great choice.
I have too. But it comes out in such short runs you really need to stock up when you see it!
Surprised at how many stores carry their other seasonals and not that one... A shame
National Harbor MD for the next three days due to a conference. Finding the nearest pub as soon as I get off the Amtrak
Of you can get to old dominion brewery while you are there do it. I recommend the Oak Barrel Stout.
Picked up a six pack of New Holland Monkey King and a bomber of Figure Eight Brewing First Ascent. First time with each, looking forward to hydrating once properly chilled in the fridge.
Just grilled a filet mignon. Wow, so much better than the crap I usually get. Drinking on some vino right now and breaking into Shorts Spruce Pilsner later.
Ciroc berry and cranberry juice.
4-pack of Growers 1927 Dry Premium Cider while I grill the Turkey Burgers after a great afternoon of golf where I emptied the wallets of several buddies today. Then it's off to a houswarming party with a fifth of Absolute under my arm. Jays win!
Enjoy the hell out of your weekend and GO BLUE!
Session was the standout in Seattle.
Had a Mudshark IPA in Lake Havasu City AZ which was pretty good though a little too thick for my taste.
Currently in Kansas City drinking an Ethos IPA from Tallgrass Brewing Co. (Manhattan KS). Very good. Full hop flavor, and decent alcohol content without being too "heavy".
As an aside, Kansas City bar-b-q is the fucking real deal yo. Oklahoma Joe's FTW. The only better bar-b-q I can think of would be the kind that includes commitments at the Big House.
Highland Oatmeal Porter (2)
Rogue Mocha Porter (2)
Shiner Bohemian Black (2)
Now off to mom and dad's 50th anniversary dinner
Summer Shandy, don't judge. Enjoyed many petoskey brewing co's horny monk Belgian ale last night.
Deschutes Black Butte XXIV Imperial Porter. This is an incredible beer.
Well after 23 tries, I would certainly hope so.
youre not a very good troll. I really liked reading your post before the melt down, I really wish that you would take a break and come back as what you once were.
I'm not trolling. I was making a joke about the name of the beer. People just assume that everything I write is trolling when it's not at all.
I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say it is because of the "Ghostof..." name. Come back with a new name that doesnt involve that, dont bring up Ghostof, and I am assuming it will all go away. Like I said, I really liked reading your stuff.
I can't give up the ghost name. Nobody will know who I am.
I gotta say, Id rather be known for an intellegent poster than to be well known because he comes back and gets banhammered and becomes "Ghostof..." to continue "trolling" the board.
Just think about it.
I've actually only been banhammered once, but I do see your point.
That's kind of the point.
I really don't understand why some of these beers or whatever have fifty words in their names. I feel like I'm reading a different language.
Watching the Tigers game and drinking Moosehead Lager...
