OT: Insane soccer story out of Brazil

Submitted by maizenblueCW2 on

Rural Brazil, God Damn. Ref ejects soccer player, player tackles ref, ref stabs and kills player, player's family dismembers, beheads, and puts ref's head on a spike. WTF.

*Pictures and videos available on Buzzfead and Liveleak. But yeah, didn't feel confortable posting here.

You didn't.  You singled out "soccer fans."  I think his point was that saying all soccer fans are savage sociopaths is akin to saying the same about black people (or any other group).  He could have said "liberals," "blondes," or "asthmatics" and the point would have been the same.  Race isn't the only axis upon which generalization is frowned.

Technically, he said "vast majority", not all soccer fans.  I guess the debate is how much vast majority, really is!

Regardless, I heard this story a few days ago.  Ridiculous.  But really, are there other sports/games/competitive events where over-the-top sh*t like this happens across the globe like it does and has been known to happen, in futbol?

But seriously, who doesn't harbor a vendetta against those dreaded asthmatics? Coughing and wheezing and using inhalers all the time... they're obviously thugs.

But actually seriously, quite aside from how offensive it is to generalize about an entire group of people, doing so reveals a certain degree of (for lack of a better term) simplemindedness: that we see people along only one axis, rather than at the intersections of multiple axes.

Reminds me of a pretty good movie called "Hooligans".  Elijah Wood plays an American visiting his sister in England who gets caught up with the extreme fans of West Ham United.  No decapitations but lots of good fights and violence.

And who won the match? I mean, surely they finished and played around the stake containing the head of the deceased referee... Right?

If the band was on the field it would still count.

When I clicked on this post I thought it was going to be about a insane goal or maybe an insane european team signing a 3 year old or something. This is just crazy....Unbelievable to me.

I do want to point out that I have no issue with your title, I was just expecting something else. I don't know how you could describe it more aptly than insane.
