Yikes, only 183? Somebody get Shane a 'sammich

Also, Shallman (listed at RB) @ 245lbs is bigger than both of last years FB's; Houma and Kerridge

Perhaps someone can give some insight on this but why aren't PWOs Jack Wangler, J.J. McGrath and Garrett Moores on the roster but PWO LB Dan Liesman is?

This is just a guess, but I remember reading somewhere that players on academic scholarship have to be enrolled for a year before they can join the team or else it counts against the scholarship total.

That's not true. Liesman and several other freshman walk-ons were not invited to camp last year and did not arrive on campus until August, so their names were not put on the roster until later in the year even though they dressed for most of the home games. The roster limit is 115 or so and the camp limit is 105. Not everyone can be invited to camp every year. They didn't count against the scholarship total or anything like that.

That could be the case with those new walk-ons, they may just not be on campus yet.

The team must have cut up one of Lewan's old jerseys and given one of the 7's to Morris and the other 7 to Poggi.

If Sypniewski and Hagerup are all on the field at the same time, would that be allowed? Seeing that both of their numbers are 43. Also, are you even allowed to have 3 people with the same number, because Chris Wormley also has it!

Nice... two pure RB's at 218 and 220, one "something" back at 245.  Behind a line that is not that small either.  Know there could be a redshirt or two in this but the future looks good.

Morris needs some weight

Thought Hill would be heavier but that's a good weight to start at as a frosh

I agree they are, but it's primarily just the MIKE position, the others are pretty much the same. Our MIKE (Morgan/Bolden) will be much smaller than Demens was last year.  Our WILL will be pretty much the same size (Morgan vs Ross), and our SAM will be smaller as well (Ryan vs Gordan), although Beyer is a little bigger than Ryan.  The same can be said with RJS.  But, as some have noted these appear to be the spring weights, so I'm guessing the younger guys will put on a little weight, primarily Bolden and RJS, when they weigh in during fall camp.  Ryan, Gordan, Morgan, and Ross probably won't change much.  I know Ross is a younger guy too so he may, but he's already quite muscular and good sized for his height (guessing he closer to 5'10" than 6'1").

Who gets the Woodson Legacy Jersey?

Circle October 19th vs. Indiana. The Raiders have a bye and Michigan is at home at 3:30pm vs. Indiana...

Didn't Countess redshirt last year due to his injury? I noticed it didn't say it on the roster. Maybe it hasn't been cleared by the NCAA yet?

If you added up the weights of C. Stribling, T. Richardson, R. Dawson and J. Lewis you may equal one Chris Bryant, maybe.

I wouldn't bet on ANY of these being up to date.

Many of the freshmen heights/weights are IDENTICAL to the heights/weights listed for these same guys on recruiting websites as long as a year ago. IDENTICAL. In fact, the guys from The Opening that didn't enroll early - IDENTICAL. Also, many of the FR guys have done articles more recently where they claimed to be 15-20 lbs heavier than many of these. I doubt every kid lied and in turn every year old scouting report is right. Think about it.

Almost every single height/weight for the veteran players are IDENTICAL to the height/weights listed on the spring roster. IDENTICAL.

In other words, wait until fall practice. The "official" roster officially changed when the actual season started last year too.

Random update from myself - just checked the Rivals profiles of 5 random recruits. All 5 were again, identical to the heights and weights listed here.

This list does nothing by compile heights/weights from Rivals and ESPN. Don't get your panties all in a twist if a FR isn't the height/weight you wanted them to be.

LSAClassOf2000

Here are some of the averages at each position -

WR - 6'2", 194 lbs.

TE - 6'4", 238 lbs.

RB - 5'11", 211 lbs.

OL - 6'5", 296 lbs.

LB - 6'2", 224 lbs.

DT - 6'2", 267 lbs.

DE - 6'4", 265 lbs.

DB - 6'0", 182 lbs.

I would imagine that it's probably higher if you limit it to the two-deep, but yeah, this is a good-sized team overall, I would think.

Saw posted that they all did some testing last week or this week and have begun to lift formally after getting to school.  Others are probably left over from spring?

WolvinLA2

July 3rd, 2013 at 7:01 PM ^

So you think it's a coincidence then that they're all exactly the same as they're listed on Rivals?  Unless, Rivals is incredibly accurate (and none of these guys gained any weight since Rivals last updated their profiles which is over a year for many of them), I think this is probably a C&P job.

EDIT:  Funny thing is, they aren't all exactly the same as Rivals.  Every one of them is the same weight, and everyone except Derrick Green is the same for height, who is list one inch shorter on this roster than on Rivals.  The C&P guy can no truthfully deny copy and pasting all of them.

Just some thoughts as I was looking through this.....

I love the size of running backs with Green, Smith, D.Johnson, and Rawls.  If Hayes assumes the V.Smith role he's at a good size himself.  Lewis is tiny, please redshirt him.  I'm still surprised by the weights of Ross, Jenkins-Stone, and Morgan... maybe they aren't updated?  Also, I feel like Bars and Magnusson should have both put more weight on by now, are these guys going to get lost in the shuffle??
