Beavers-Utes

Submitted by jamiemac on

Interesting game tonight out west: Oregon St at Utah. The Utes got a boost with Michigan winning, but they can make a large statement by dispatching Oregon State, a week after the Beavers smacked around USC.

They're 14th in the Coaches Poll. A lot of teams immmediately ahead of them have one loss already and will likely lose again. Tonight will be the only real time for the Utes to make a statement until this possible to the death showdown brewing for the finale in Provo vs BYU.

This is a pretty big game for the polls and the viability of a mid major BCS contender. Game is on Versus. Utes down 3-0 early, but are on the move.

Oregon State should have won this game, but the OSU coach decided to go for two after they scored in the second quarter.  The attempt failed and they were down by 5.  The next time they scored they went for two again and failed.  Why don't coaches just take the points??  I know this has been discussed here, but with 2 minutes left in this game OSU was up 28-20.  Had they taken the points they would have been up 30-20.  After Utah scored the touchdown they would have had to kick an onside kick instead of kicking it deep.  I am convinced that OSU would have won this game if they didn't go for two...TWICE!

Are Correct!!

Riley went for 2 in the first half.....and, do you remember how bad of a play it was? Utah got a turnover and was a missed tackle from taking it the other way for 2 points of their own.

Stoopid, Stoopid. Vary astute to remember that sequence on your part.

There was no point, other than aesethics, to go for 2 in the first half like that.
