OT: NBA Finals Game 6 overtime open thread
I mean I need to talk about this with somebody...
willed Miami back into this game single-handedly, then Wade came in and ruined everything. And then Tony Parker swagged out. And then LeBron, and then the missed FT, and then vintage Ray. Wow.
Lebron has gone cold. I mean, not to say that he hasn't done his part for the team tonight. But still.
went 5-6 with 12 points on their 4th quarter run, with at least 2 huge steals and a clutch block. He went ham. Then they brought in Wade and the spacing disappeared.
get over how much Wade's game has declined in the last year. It may be all injury related, or it may be because he and Lebron are as bad as a fit together as I originally thought, but he looks lost. He can't initiate his own offense and just dribbles around, afraid to do anything. i don't think he is happy with his role on the team, or for that matter really knows what that role is. I don't know his contract situation, but he looks suspiciously like a really unhappy basketball player out there.
It seemed like he saw his legacy flashing in front of his eyes and took over. Then Tony Parker gave the Spurs back that 5 point lead, and I've never seen such subtle yet utter dismay on a player's face on that timeout before they came back.
It would seem people are too busy telling themselves the NBA sucks to care about one of the greatest basketball games I've ever watched...
Edit: nvm just trigger happy
This is a great game.
The NBA still sucks.
but last time I saw the game LeBron had 12 points. Can you share his stat line from the end of the third/fourth quarter?
30 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists, 2 huge steals in the fourth, and 1 awesome block on Duncan.
Makes me regret leaving the bar, the LeBron fan I know is probably buying rounds of shots for everyone by now.
That is pretty amazing though, even as someone who doesn't watch much NBA. I'll have to get this game on ASAP.
Heat were down before end of regulation and people were leaving.... Missing the OT
This game will break twitter, no matter who wins.
was strong with Ray Allen tonight.
I actually called Tony Parker Trey Burke-esque when he tied it up with that killer three with under 2 minutes and then to take the lead with that shot in the lane. Then the game went into OT, continuing the Michigan-KU game trend. Then Miami won the analogy failed. And yea, Ray Allen with yet again another clutch shot, wow.
refs have been meh both ways. ginobli elbowed lebron in the face and acted like he didn't do anything. players are playing out there.
would have gotten whatever call before he even had to consider complaining...
They were going to switch everything to prevent an open 3, which worked both times. Unfortunately for them, it totally compromised their d-rebounding.
the pacers did the same thing against Miami, taking Hibbert out of the last seconds of one game and it directly (well directly indirectly enough for me to call it directly) cost them the game
he completely lost it for those last two minutes (three pointer aside).
but i still think that had more to do with subbing wade back into the game. it was a tricky situation for spoelstra, but i think he should have done the hard thing and left him on the bench.
That was like an NCAA Final Four game. I like the NBA when they, you know, don't play like the NBA.
Point taken, but the NBA played like the NBA of the 80s and 90s can be viewed in my household any day. If those days are on the horizon, and the game today is somewhat returning to that, I'll someday watch the NBA on a consistent basis. Baby steps. But games like tonight are baby leaps.
The spurs will be too gassed for a game 7 its now or never!!!
That was the good non-call that Trey needed in the NC.
too soon
I hate that they even need to review plays like that. I mean really? Was the initial conclusion that the ball jettisoned off into the stands as a delayed reaction to Danny Green toching the ball while falling backwards?
Gotta admire the Heat's determination here. Wow. Great play by Bosh.
Well. Damn.
nah no point to complain at this point...
San Antonio really gifted that one away goodness
And that's why people make fun of NBA officiating. Although to be fair, the idiotic "let the players settle it," "swallow the whistle late" nonsense goes on in many sports.
that's honestly the worst (I'm not commenting here, though) way to officiate, although there are people with that mentality.
For this game, though, even without a horse in the race that was exciting. Good for Juwan Howard and any of the MGoHeat fans out there.
