Report: Pinstripe Bowl to be officially added to Big 10 bowl rotation
It's about time we add another bowl in (or at least really close to) our conference footprint. Bring on the snow! How great would it be for a Big Ten team (hopefully not us, since we should aim for the BCS) to play a team like Miami, Georgia Tech, or one of the North Carolina teams in the snow?
Georgia Tech will be representing the B1G in this bowl by 2016 if I had to guess.
Hopefully Michigan never plays in it.
Why can't we just play football in football stadiums.
Northern football games are a ridiculous idea because of the cold weather. NOBODY wants to go to a football game outside in the middle of winter. It wouldn't be fair to the student athletes!
Oh wait, those were criticisms only for campus bowl games. It's completely different if it's in New York where college sports are second fiddle to the pros. Then it's a good idea and the student athletes will love it.
What a crock of shit.
Edit: The comment this was attached to has disappeared.
msu should be happy with this news.
Send MSU there. Let them freeze in the NY cold. Perfect for them
Meh, I'd rather see them in the Detroit Lions Bowl or the Little Caesars Bowl (whichever one the B1G is taking part in). Its more fitting to see them freeze their ass off during the holidays in the barren wastelands of Detroit rather than get to spend their time in NYC. If you're not going south for the holidays, NYC is probably the next best place to be for Christmas.
That would be a little more fun with them going to the LC Bowl/Detroit Lions Bowl game. NY is nice other than the cold. I guess them going to that bowl means they did even worse haha
I hope we never play a game there! Leave that bowl to the Purdue's, NW's and MSU's of the B1G!
I prefer MSU not make bowl games. I'm a bigger fan of them losing to Central.
Whether we ever play a game there or not, I and my family won't attend. I have been to several bowl games over the years and part of the attraction is going someplace warm over the holidays. Now if I lived in the NYC/NJ area going to a game that time of year might be acceptable, similar to an NFL game, but compared to Cali on New Year's Day, no way.
NYC on New Year's Eve though? I would love Michigan to play in this bowl eventually. Would definitely be one I would try to attend. Wife loves NYC so there'd be no problem getting her motivated. Sure sure warm weather bowls may be nice to those who can afford to travel to them. NYC at Christmas and New Years though is a hell of a site.
NYC is more expensive than a Florida beach vacation.
So you go way early for Christmas, or hang around days for New Year's. and I don't think the average bowl traveler is looking forward to freezing in Times Square.
"The Atlantic Coast Conference is the front-runner to land the spot opposite the Big Ten and replace the Big East. The Big East helped the Yankees get the Pinstripe Bowl off the ground, and between Syracuse and Rutgers the conference has won all three of the games."
It will be interesting to see where this bowl will fit in for the Big Ten in terms of who goes where. Until now, it was the 4th place team in the Big East and the Big 12's 7th place team. As I recall, the Big Ten's 4th pick either goes to the Gator Bowl or the BWW Bowl, but there was also a rumor a few weeks ago that the Meineke Car Care Bowl (6th pick in the Big Ten) could be on the chopping block in favor of other games for the conference. If the ACC joins in on the fun, then what it could mean is that instead of Rutgers and Syracuse vying for the same slot in this game, Rutgers could PLAY Syracuse in this game at some point. Compelling television, I am sure.
Think of all the New York TV sets tuned in for that one.
after Holiday and Gator/Music City. Holiday is supposedly going to up their payouts so I think it'll go after Capital One and Outback.
For my own selfish reasons, I wish we would get the Music City Bowl again.
It drew the largest crowds back in the B1G v SEC days. And plus, I would love to see a B1G come to town.
NYC is cool though. Literally.
I would also like the Music City bowl to go back to Minnesota vs Kentucky every year.
Cheap and quick drive time from Murfreesboro.

its all coming into focus
I hope to never attend this bowl unless I want to waste a couple of bucks throwing snowballs at Sparty.
