People remembered the UP has alumni too!

Well good, but y'all can stay beneath the bridge for the summer. I got behind 4 cars on US-2 and freaked out about traffic. I'm not good with people!

And they are not impressed with Marshall.

And they are not impressed with McDowell.

And they are not impressed with . . .

They are running out of guys to be not impressed with.

It's beacuse Ohio has moderately warmer winters and moderately faster speed due to said moderately warmer weather.  They're quasi-SEC.  Which also explains the tattoos.  But only the slow unwanted recruits head north.

It's always great to say hello to our old friend, the "shopkeeper's apostrophe."  That being said, I would have upvoted you anyway if there was room for more points.

His comments were pretty direct and refreshignly honest.  No recruiting doublespeak.

Is there a link to what specifically went down in his first OSU visit?  I know that he was not paid proper attention to and had some negative experiences with Ohio State fans during his visit (haven't we all), but is there a link to some specifics?

Today at the NFTC he said that his first visit gave him "bad vibes" and was just "too chaotic."  He did say his second visit that he took went much better, but wasn't good enough to put them into his top five or anything and he relayed that info to Urb.

I would imagine that all of those people running around, asking probing questions, and trying to figure out what illegal benefits to offer would definitely be chaotic.  If a recruit turns down a golden handshake or a ho-stess in Columbus, his 40 time suddenly goes up by a half-second.

Thankfully the reasonable and unbiased Eleven Warriors Staff provided an incredibly plausible and objective explanation as to why Hand is not interested in OSU:

JEREMY BIRMINGHAM STAFF on 31 MAY 2013 - 5:20PM #

Ohio State will not make up any ground with Hand this weekend and part of the reason is they don't really care to. He's a great player and a really awesome kid, but not the right fit for their program.

Also, he's not interested.  I guess you could reasonably say someone is not a good fit if he is not interested in playing for you.

The best thing, though, is that if you read the comments a lot of OSU fans are saying that Urban's program is "too business-like."  Yet Hand specifically says he likes Michigan because they are "professional."

This is way, way more priceless than "his offer wasn't committable."  It gets even better.  He starts comparing him to a young, rising executive who is a great fit at company A, but would not fit in well at company B, or something crazy like that.  Very amusing stuff.

LOL, the first 4 comments on 11w about Hand's visit:

1)  Yeah after reading that (about his visit), you have to wonder how he won't end up at UM.

    2)  I know there was a personality clash or whatever,
but what went so wrong in Hand's first visit?

        3)  He just kept on singing "Hail to the Victors" all
        throughout the visit.

            4)  Are you serious?

I read the Eleven Warriors comment as Hand doesn't think he's a good fit for the Buckeyes, so he isn't serious about potentially going to school there. Isn't that exactly why a player wouldn't want to go play for a certain program?

I know I walked away from a great job offer at a great firm because it wasn't the right fit for me culturally. I took a job at a place a little bit less popular with my classmates, but that was a better fit for me.

between not fitting into the program because you don't want to play there vs. not fitting into the program because you're not talented enough/don't fit the "scheme", etc.  Hence, a consensus 5-star will always fit into the program because if you can't find a spot for him, you're a horrible coach, IMO.  Now, if he doesn't want to play there because he just doesn't like the place, sure.  But most people on bucknuts and otherwise will reference my former point, not the latter - which is complete BS.

Maybe he phrased it poorly, but he made it sound like Hand wasn't a good fit for OSU's program, rather than OSU not being a good fit for Hand. The latter is pretty much the essense of recruiting. The former is pretty well incomprehensible with regard to this kid.

I really think he worded it poorly. Hand is obviously an outstanding prospect and given that OSU just hosted him, their staff probably agrees. It would take an absurd level of stupidity to think a staff was actively recruiting a player they didn't actually want on their team.
