OT: Red Wings vs Hawks Game 3 Open Thread

Submitted by I Bleed Maize N Blue on

Whew, I see it's 88 degrees in the D, and there's a sever thunderstorm watch till 8PM, though on radar it looks like the southern end of the front is passing to the north of A2-Detroit.

So far the Wings haven't been so good in odd-numbered games that aren't 7.  Hope they can turn it around.

TV:  7:30 PM ET on CBC & NBCS

has been a penalty 9 out of 10 times during the season. And what is with these announcers basically openly rooting for Chicago, trying to say that wasn't a clear cut penalty.

With the way they've been calling stuff, Franzen almost definitely fits the "defenseless" critera in the boarding rule. I don't know why NBC is assuming people are confused about the no-whistle, but calling boarding in that situation was probably the correct thing to do.

But only seeing it twice and not seeing the referees head/back referees position is going to make me hedge a bit on saying anything for certain. Again, I agree (and maybe "questionable" was the wrong word) like I said above, Franzen was almost defenitely "defenseless" by the common interpretation and boarding was probably the correct call.

for the most part, what exactly do you expect? They still make mistakes like you would expect, but they are certainly more sound than earlier in the season. I also have no idea what two games you have watching if you don't think the defense has been better after game one, considering Chicago is the best offensive team in the playoffs.

The Wings have already overachieved this year, anything they do from here is gravy to me. This isn't the 1997, 1998, 2001 Wings, or 2008 Wings team, you can't expect them to play as sound as those teams. This team has given everything they have, to get to this point, they deserve alot of credit. We have been spoiled by the Wings over the years, this is the first Wings team that has had to overchieve.

I'm not sure why you are picking a message board fight, especially when all I did was comment on the fact that they kept falling down on their own?  But you keep fighting the good fight.

I never said they weren't young, I never said they weren't playing better, I never said the wings haven't overachieved relative to where they were thought to finish the year.  All I did was comment on their ability to stay on their feet while skating.  Its obvious from your posts that I deeply offended you, so I guess I will apologize, and refrain from commenting on observations I make in the future.

don't see the point of  insulting the Wings D-Men by comparing them to a grandmother, when they are overchieving given the opponent.

Just kind of baffled by some of the posts I see in these threads criticizing the Wing's young players for mistakes you would expect to see in pressure situations, considering the overall body of work in terms of overchieving to get this far.
