5-Star DT Andrew Brown Planning Visit
From gathering various bits of information around the Twitterz, it sounds like DT Andrew Brown is visiting in the next couple months.
Rivals hints at it with his photo on TheWolverine.com on Rivals:

#6 Nationally, #1 DT on Rivals.
Hoke and company doing work in the Mid-Atlantic states. Yes, please.
This is good news.
Coach Mattison gets who he wants. Wake me up when a 5*DT isn't visiting. That'll be news.
"sharing talent is for chumps"

Seeing this GIF while at work almost got me in trouble. I couldn't stop laughing.
If Hand, Brown, and McDowell come here with the other D-Line players already present...what B1G O-Line stands a chance in the coming years?

i read an article today from a recruiting guy who said because of Mattison's coaching and previous experience coaching a huge DT with great strength he could see Mone being a first round pick in a couple of years. That would be a great turn out for us i would say
Mone is a top 100 recruit, #73 on the 247 composite, which i believe is the agreed upon master list on this site.
A more accurately informative title would be "5-Star DT Andrew Brown May Visit UM."
Thanks - changed.
It is the equivalent of saying "Don is being a curmudgeon right now", which is a fact.
Whereas if we took available evidence and projected into the future, we'd have to say "Don may be a curmudgeon tomorrow (likely)."
...about the likelihood of chrome helmets?
Likely my ass. It's a guarantee.
but a dude this good should have a better name.
i know a guy named andrew brown. he is one of life's middling 2 stars, at best.
I hear he is now going by Andrew "JuJu" Brown.
Which is short for Andrew "Juwann" Brown
Just as long as it's not "Doo-Doo Brown."
That's funny, my dungeon master was Andrew Brown. I'm pretty sure he would have been a horrible DT. He could create some sweet world maps with graph paper though.
Are you a prisoner in the medieval age? What the hell is a dungeon master?
If I'm not mistaken, polSKA is some sort of swinger
How about Dan Smith ... BYU
Here is the Hudl.com video (LINK)
According to this, last season he had 83 tackles, 14 TFLs and 11 sacks. The video highlights a fair number of the tackles for loss and the sacks, but they all look pretty good overall. Brown seems like he could dominate up front.
but he is a strong UVa lean though.
This does seem like an exceptional year for talent in Virginia, though. Hand, Brown, Blanding--plus Green last year, and those are just the guys I know off the top of my head. I know UVA is an up-and-coming program, but I still doubt they would be in on so many guys like this if they were from, say, Kansas.
or at least a sleeping top 25 team. It's a lot like Michigan: great academics, beautiful campus and they're in a talent rich state. They just lack a 100,000 seat stadium and football tradition. They strike me as a UCLA or Texas A&M. There's so much talent in their area that someone's going to figure it out eventually and make them a good team
FWIW, I posted a scouting report on him a couple months ago and there was a fairly lengthy conversation that ensued:
for the link and info. fix the show-boat stuff and the kid looks to be a perfect fit.
Since Mattison likes to rotate on the D-Line (I mean, but, what DC doesn't), he should recruit like six 5* DT/DE guys for 2014 and it'll be like unfair by the time the 4th quarter of a game rolls around. Who cares who "starts"; they'll all play and they'll all get drafted. You can never have enough of those guys (see: SEC), a deeper DL makes way more difference than a deep secondary or linebacker corps. Keep 'em coming.
You know, I was fairly nervous on the long term prospects of OL coaching (given how bad we were up front this season, which was inexcusable) but with the OL now being forced to go up against a sick DL every day in practice, we should be fine.
Aside from Omameh they were all about 4 stars... many schools do fine with less. The only time an RB cracked 100 was Denard...with 100...in the bowl game.
Yes, it really means that a four-year starter on the OL who called out blocking assignments is that important.
Brown has family members and coaches who went to UVA and they have been pushing him in that direction. He is definitely not going to VT and his mom wants him close, but he isn't in love with UVA. They are the school that has gone after him most often, and many people in his life (that he doesn't wanna dissappoint) have been pushing him, so he's entertained them. He made a comment that Hand's visit made him take a look at Michigan..plus they have camped together for years. Michigan with a great visit (as expected) will jump to the front fo the line. Brown doesn't like the spotlight and is looking to end his recruitment soon
