If you are a soccer fan in the area, you owe it to yourself to get to a game (or games) this summer. DCFC is in its second season and has already become one of the best-supported clubs in the country. The season opener was on Sunday, a 5-1 trouncing of FC Sparta in Berkeley at which 90%+ of the fans were rooting for DCFC.
From a UM angle, the team features current and former players Knox Cameron, Zeke Harris, Latif Alashe, and Nick Lewin.

I still maintain they need a Detroit MLS team called the Detroit Motor.
Merchandising alone would be amazing.
Eh, not a fan of singular team nicknames.
Last season was an absolute blast and I hope to be able to make it down to quite a few games this summer. If you are one of the first 300 in to the supporter's section you'll get a free rally towel. It should be a great game!
I'll be there for sure, and I encourage everyone to do the same! The level of play might not be amazing, but the fan experience is top notch. If you like to get rowdy, there isn't a better fan section in the whole state, and that's coming from someone who's been to Michigan football and basketball games deep in the student section. We cheer for a full 90 minutes!
Going to be a great time! Got my season tickets and the new scarf! Would buy the jersey, but just not keen on spending $75. But I heard they're great from people that did purchase them. Hope lots of people can make it! Chattanooga had 2700sh at their home opener and DCFC is trying to top that. The record for NPSL attendance is 5100sh, and I expect DCFC to top that in the coming years if things continue as they are. Vive Le Rouge!
Yep, it's Le Rouge, as an homage to the River Rouge and the French heritage of Detroit. Fleur de lises all over the merchandise is pretty sweet too. They've done a great job with marketing IMO. Been on several soccer forums and even outsiders think the crest and name is pretty awesome.
Another possible tie-in: The Nain Rouge
That explains all the odd disappearances of individuals in my party whenever I've visited Detroit
Nitpicking: the plural of fleur-de-lis is fleurs-de-lis.
Never taken French, but w/ what little Spanish I know and looking at it, that makes more sense grammatically
