B1G to add Holiday, Pinstripe & Music City Bowls to tie-ins
Interesting and a nice shakeup. The Holiday Bowl makes a return to the B1G rotation.
Not that I want to see Michigan in these games because it would mean they had a less-than season, but a game at Yankee Stadium would be neat. And maybe even a de-facto home game with alums in the NY area.

Ugh, I'm so sick of Big Poinsettia stamping their name on everything.
I also like the matchup against a Pac-12 team. I always feel like the Big Ten and Pac-12 have some shared history, due to the Rose Bowl, and I get excited when we play Pac-12 teams. Plus, it's boring when every non-BCS Big Ten bowl slot is against a SEC team.
But at least the sorority girls were out - and I was 19 at the time.

It's amazing that Adidas has managed to make Nike and all its dumbass uniforms look good.
As a premier school, Michigan is going to make a lot of money from whoever their supplier is. However, there have to be minimum quality standards. Is it worth getting an extra 5-10% if the products we're given are absolute garbage and look like clown uniforms?
Nike didnt bring back Zubaz pants though....so like +infinity.
I just wish Michigan would go the Alabama route and say "Yes, if you must you can give us a little extra "flair" (houndstooth background on their numbers) but GTFO if you want to touch anything else".
Is something to be cast off. I mean, if you were offered a 10% raise to leave someplace you really liked, you'd have to think about it.
And everyone makes clown uniforms. Who does it doesn't matter. It's whether they do it or not. And it looks like we'll be doing it, but not as much, at least this year.
Nike has its own issues, but at least they produce quality products. I've never seen a Nike basketball team have 5 jerseys rip in the same game (Minnesota, 2013), or a Nike football team have to change jerseys at halftime because the jerseys they were given were so awful (Northwestern, 2011).
Plus, Nike can come up with some crazy alternate uniforms, but at least they seem to be thought out reasonably well. It's not crap like just changing the color of the numbers, or adding stripes or a yoke. The UTL uniforms were great, but the Virginia Tech, Alabama, and South Carolina uniforms were orders of magnitude stupider than anything Nike has done.

I never said Nike has never done anything wacky. My main argument is that, looks aside, Nike produces a higher quality product than Adidas - their jerseys don't rip or stretch or fall apart.
But even as far as alternate looks, almost all of those Nike examples at least present a coherent package that has something to do with the school's history/tradition/mascot, or at least is an interesting design. It's not just "hey, let's add a shoulder yoke and change the color of the numbers!" With the exception of the UTL uniform, all of Adidas' alternates could have been designed by a 10-year-old, whereas Nike's (love them or hate them) at least look like they were professionally designed.
the holiday bowl, year in and year out, has had some of the best bowl games ever. lived out there for years and attended a few of them. plus, played at qualcomm and i like that stadium.
Rutgers in Yankee Stadium and N'Western in Wrigley...just because.

I know that millions and millions of tourists disagree, but Florida is one of the last places in the country I would want to go for anything. The scenery is swamps and there's absolutely no history to any of the large cities in that state. Blech.
To each their own
- Travel to Florida is much cheaper and closer for most Americans . . . you can make it in 18 hours if you really drive through. Pasadena is at least twice that, plus the possibility of blizzards, so driving is no longer even an option.
- St. Augustine, IIRC, does have some significant history.
- So does Key West.
- There are plenty of places, if you know where to look, where you can enjoy shrimp and beer at a non-plastic place on the beach or the water.
- Speaking of the beach, there's nothing like enjoying a nice walk on the ocean or gulf when the temps are around 70.
- I personally am not a big Disney Fan, although some people love Orlando. However, for those who drink beer, Busch Gardens in Tampa isn't bad. Also, everyone should go to the NASA Kennedy Space Center at least once. There are plenty of Michigan alums who were astronauts, after all.
I've lived 15 minutes from the Rose Bowl, and also lived in Florida. I would choose California in a heart beat. But short of the Rose Bowl, for all the reasons above, I'd rather be in Florida, rather than, say, the Cotton Bowl, Alamo Bowl, Pinstripe, Music City, Motor City, etc., etc. Obviously, the Sugar and Fiesta Bowls are in decent venues, but other than the game itself, I think I'd personally rather be in Florida than New Orleans. Arizona isn't bad, but I'd still take California or Florida.

I welcome San Diego, and am glad we're only losing Orlando/Cap 1 when the team is in the more prestigious Orange, but am saddened that we set up appearances in the Orange rather than the Sugar. Getting into the Sugar once every 30 years isn't enough.
America's best beer city is in Michigan.
I'd accept Boulder, Colorado as a substitute in a pinch. I don't even know what you're talking about with Florida.
I think he's talking about San Diego as America's best beer city (given his comment about "bad choices south of the border"), which has to be on the short list. Lots of good breweries out there.
Two problems with Nashville as a December destination: no beaches and not particularly warm weather. If I'm going somewhere that time of year, I want those two.

When the Pinstripe Bowl was conceived, as I recall, the Yankees' management envisioned a bowl for at least one team within a few hours drive of NYC. When it was started, that was easy enough in the old configuration of the Big East. It's interesting that conference realignment may have first put this bowl potentially in jeopardy when it came to feasability and fan accessibility, but then realignment has also come along and helped to save it really, if the Big Ten and ACC in their soon-to-be configuration will face off in this bowl.

So, why does the Big Ten #3 have to face the Pac 12 #2? Why can't they just have equitable matchups? Better yet, why can't the Big Ten get a favorable matchup for a change?

NY weather can vary that time of year. Would be interesting to see some of the more southern teams (geographicly) from the ACC play in some nice cold weather.
Overall I'm glad there is some location diversity. Hopefully the time slots are varied enough that all 3 aren't happening between noon and 4 PM on January 1st...
The Holiday Bowl is one of the few bowls I would take time out to watch. The game is known for lots of offense and upsets galore. Plus, doesn't M have a sizable alumni base in So Cal?
