Sunday night What are you Drinking? thread

Submitted by Gobgoblue on

Pretty solid day of sports.  Tigers rolled the Astros, and I love me some tournament hockey!

We didn't have a drinking thread this weekend, MGoGuys and MgoGals.  Much shame.

I found 10 bucks in my pocket, so I picked up some Miller Lite with a Tigers logo on it.  Enough said.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everybody!  Maybe someone else out there will watch some late-night hockey, too!

Vodka Martini - poured - not shaken or stirred. A very dry, arid, barren, desiccated, veritable dustbowl of a martini.

Worked 24 hrs this weekend on a startup.

Go Tigers!

Go 2013 Big Ten champs Michigan!

Rich and Rare and Root Beer.  Is there anything on TV?  I'm all hockey-ed out, don't care for the NBA, and haven't followed Game of Thrones.  Currently stuck on Anthony Bourdain... which is fine but not great.  Also, I just got HBO so does anyone know when Boardwalk comes back?

It really is the best $16 handle you can buy.  Don't let any alcohol snobs tell you otherwise, R&R will hang with any overpriced brand out there!

My friend at the liquor store found a case of Cidre Bouche, made by Domaine Dupont in Normandy. French ciders are actually quite good and if you can find them, I do recommend them highly. Well worth the price indeed. That being said, the Dodgers-Giants game is likely not the best way to enjoy this, I am finding.

In college, we'd always get a handle of Popov, or 5 O'Clock when we really didn't have an extra few bucks to "splurge," and run it through our Brita water filter reserved for vodka only. It would destroy the filter after about 3 handles, but it saved us from a lot of of those patented cheap vodka hangovers, let alone that rubbing alcohol taste. I'm sure my mom is still curious why I seemed so obsessed with clean water in college...

Trying to decide whether to crack open a Breckenridge Vanilla Porter or a Sierra Nevada Stout. Going to have one of each, but I can't make up my mind on which one gets to go first.

Just left a good Mexican restaurant here in Northern Michigan. Split a pitcher of Margaritas in honor of cinco de Mayo. Delicious!

Had some left over from yesterday for the Derby, so I am having a glass of Sweet Tea Southern Comfort. As if SoCo isn't delicious and smooth as it is, this premixed cocktail variant is one of the tastiest adult beverages I've ever had. Watching an episode of Anthony Bourdain's new show on CNN only makes it taste that much sweeter.

I have a couple nights off work, so I'm having a good night so far. Started with Hoptimum (Sierra Nevada Imperial IPA) then went to Oddside Citra while using the smoker. With dinner, it was Cliff Lede Sauvignon Blanc. Amazing wine! Great weather for a dinner on the deck!

Kind of nervous, but I've been doing pretty well, so hopefully things play out the way I want. Also, MGB goes to her conference tournament this week. They lost the championship race again, but they're the two seed and will have a chance to go to the NCAA tournament if they can win 5-6 games.

Hope all is well over in Columbus.

Got a pack of Dogfish Sixty-One.  IPA with Syrah grape must.  Odd beer, solid, but not my favorite from them.  Rocking that while watching hockey and working on my last two papers for law school.  Last two ever.  Damn right.

For now. Maybe a Revolution Anti-hero to follow it. Off to the SF Bay Area for a week of vacation tomorrow morning, so good Napa Valley wines this week.

It started with a couple of nice cigars out back with my neighbor and some Boddington's Pub Ale.

For "Mad Men" I switched up to Jose Cuervo Especial.

I stopped one drink short of too far.  I count that as a win.
