Wings vs. Ducks - Round 1 Game 1

Submitted by samdrussBLUE on

Puck is about to drop.  Can the Wings continue the ride?  Can Howard continue to stand on his head?  Time to find out.

My only hope is that I will be able to function completely tomorrow after watching the game.  "Enjoy" the last playoffs with these ever-so-frequent late ass starts.

2nd period. No pressure against Hiller and I counted at least 10 or 11 shots on Howard in that period. Wings looked out hustled and honestly they are damn lucky it's still 1-1. A lot of work to do in the 3rd. Anaheim is starting to scare me.

Need to establish that speed on the forecheck that we had in the 1st and get some pressure on their defense. Anaheim has flipped this game around and we've allowed it to happen. ENOUGH FUCKING PENALTIES.

zone for once in this period. I've seen so many chances for big hits and huge checks and we aren't taking them. Content with this team Ken? WE HAVE NO FUCKING ENFORCERS.

Can't wing games when you're only averaging 3 to 4 shots a period. They looked tired, outhit, out hustled and pinned in their own zone all night. Need to really fix something's before Thursday cause this play was pitiful. Only 1 game though still a long way to go in the series. They'll get their shit together.

That is terrible for a playoff team. 30+ was the average for the wings when they won a lot. Every 10 shots= a goal no matter what goalie is in the net over a long period of time. Most goalies are .890 to .910 save %. 21 shots will get you two goals a game. Turrible!

I'm not disagreeing with this. Just saying the post I responded to was factually incorrect and misleading to those that didnt watch the game.

the Ducks scored two goals on the power play and an empty net from 90 feet, reading this thread makes me think the Wings had absolutely no business being in the same building as Anaheim.

Get a grip man.

Agreed. Super flat and lost every battle in the 2nd but first playoff game for a bunch...Andersson, Brunner, Deykeyser, Smith. I'd expect game two to play out a bit more even, playoff hockey tends to swallow up newcomers. Ducks have a pretty experienced squad and it showed, especially on the PP unit.

for the Wings, we are pretty young right now, which is good, great experience for these guys.  Its only going to get better from here for the Wings and these young guys.  Looks promising.

Also, Deykeyser is the next star for the Wings, he is so freaking good for how new he is to the league.  I now can see why every team wanted this kid.  SOOOO glad we signed him.

watching the game, the Ducks looked more crisp with the passing and forechecking, in that sense they were in more control of the game. Wings were a notch below them but we played sloppy yesterday.  Clean it up and we can beat them like we did during the season.  I still think it goes 7.

Dont listen to all these haters........Babcock always gets the guys cranked up when the time is needed.

Go Wings!

1. Eff Teemu, always been a thorn in the Wings side...gotta respect his career though, 42 and skating with 20 year olds..pretty impressive

2. Clean up the passing and we will be fine

3. Bertuzzi, where are you?
