FOA (or "figuring out acronyms")

Submitted by tasnyder01 on
Ladies and Gentlemen of the board, I come to you today with great need. We newcomers do not truly understand the great acronyms utilized in this very place -- we may know a few, but not yet all. please, ye intelligent ones, further the understanding of us ignoramuses. mostly tounge in cheek, but seriously, its offseason time. . . Those of you who know what AFAIK, SIAP, UFR, etc. mean, please elaborate to those who don't. MODS: if this becomes diary-worthy, move it. I'm not really sure it'll be so, so for the time being, I'm placing it here.

What Would Jesus Drink (if he read MGOBLOG) and responded to the weekly non sports related thread on what alcohol people are drowning their off season sorrows with.

Unfortunately for you, accronyms are not as popular as alochol on here. My suggestion is to next time create a thread dealing with alcoholic acronyms. You'll get more up votes.

I already know most of these acronyms, to be honest. Nevertheless, I thought it would be smart to hash these out for people who don't already know them. Also, while google is good for each individual acronym, I thought a compendium here would be more useful. P.S. Do you normally look up OPs? Not mad, just weirded out

Great. A chance for someone to explain HOTTT.

Google and Bing offer nothing.

As used by Brian today: "because it's part of the college experience to show up in the second quarter with HOTTT on your ass barely able to walk."

RDT = RollDamnTide - a Bama fan that became a notorious poster last year.  That one threw me off first time I saw it.

IANAL = I am not a lawyer.  I've seen Brian use this when discussing legalese stuff when he is giving a layman's perspective.

TWIT = This Week in Twitter/This Week in the Twitterverse - a post series by former mod BiSB

BiSB = great contributor here and former mod. Stands for Blue in South Bend, as he used to reside there.

TWIS = This Week in Schadenfreude.  A hilarious weekly series posted over on SBNation.com written by Brian Cook.  When it posts to SBNation, it usually gets linked to over on the message board here.

/s = poster is using sarcasm, in case that isn't clear.
