FOA (or "figuring out acronyms")

Submitted by tasnyder01 on
Ladies and Gentlemen of the board, I come to you today with great need. We newcomers do not truly understand the great acronyms utilized in this very place -- we may know a few, but not yet all. please, ye intelligent ones, further the understanding of us ignoramuses. mostly tounge in cheek, but seriously, its offseason time. . . Those of you who know what AFAIK, SIAP, UFR, etc. mean, please elaborate to those who don't. MODS: if this becomes diary-worthy, move it. I'm not really sure it'll be so, so for the time being, I'm placing it here.

Correction to your correction. RDT was a fake Alabama fan AND a poster known as "Wolverine in a bag" or WIAT for short

He's still here and surfaces now and then in different personas. One time he was a hot chick who just happened to know just about everything about recruiting.

Personally I think he's Herm

(although this is still conjecture on my part) that lead me to believe there would be an overhaul of the content in the drop down tabs sometime in the near-ish future. A lot of the stuff is getting up there in age.

tl;dr  -  too long; didn't read. When someone creates a post, or a comment, that is way too long. Hint: That's what Diaries are for!

NSFMrs.K  =  Not Safe for Mrs. Kass

(If you ever wonder whether something is "Safe for Mrs. Kass" don't post it. (No offense to Mrs. Kass - she's a lovely lady with a good guy for a husband))

Just figure it out, man. If there's one giving you specific trouble, ask. Personally, I sort of like trying to figure out the ones that stump me from time to time.

Some of the other blogs that are occasionally cited here:

11W = 11 Warriors (Ohio State)

BHGP = Blackheart Goldpants (Iowa)

Rarely seen, but they have been used by various posters a few times:

ITH = Inside The Hall (Indiana)

LTP = Lake The Posts (Northwestern)

TOC = The Only Colors (Michigan State)

It just gets posted in all caps, CooperLily21profitgoblue is possibly responsible. A posbang is just a thread where everyone lets their standards down, loosens their morals and upvotes everyone they see.

Basically everyone is in a good mood (big win) and upvotes anyone who posts something. When you see one, just comment "Whoo! GO BLUE!!!" or something like that and watch your mgopoints go up.
And yes I just upvoted this.

The term has its origins in the days before the cyber attack/site meltdown, back when upvotes/downvotes actually did something. Back then, there were also negbangs, and they were just as awesome, if a little more naughty. Posbangs came about as a reaction to the negbangs, to boost people's self-esteem. The negbangs pretty much died off with the new voting system, since you can only get as low as -1, but the posbangs have lived on.
