College Football Playoff Logo chosen

Submitted by MikeCohodes on

They have closed the voting on the College Football Playoff logo design, and the one they are calling the "Golden Football" won.  Sorry, no spiked footballs.  Source link

Sorry if already posted, I did do a search and didn't see this on here, most recent post I could find was the one encouraging voting on it from a couple days ago.

So what's the verdict?  Are we happy with the logo?  Or is it just as bland as the name for the playoff itself?

that's why I said "they're calling it the Golden Football" when obviously we all will call it that, and we will mercilessly mock them for picking one of the vagina looking logos, at least until we get distracted by someth--

-SQUIRREL!

Seriously, the complete lack of any well thought out design for the name or logos is just sad.

Sorry for this simple-minded, knee-jerk reaction. Now that I have had time to think about this, I really truely believe we are getting trolled right now. Like college football is making a joke of us all and laughing behind closed doors. They know it looks like a Vagina. They know people voted for it because it looks like a Vagina. And they don't care if it is bland, if it is crude, they don't even care if #CoFoPoff starts trending on the twitter.

The big wigs in College Football never wanted a playoff. They only did it to satisfy the masses, and now are making a joke of us, and hope that the overall blandness and borefest they have created with the logo & name cause people to be disinterested in the CoFoPoff, so they can go back to the old-timey bowl system.

Oh, if only I had felt this way about the coveted golden vagina back in high school and college.  I could have devoted those countless hours spent chasing the "logo" to solving world hunger instead.  I mean, I probably could have come up with the cure for cancer in that amount of time!

Some marketing/branding/PR firm that's getting a big box of money for doing so.

To me it looks like a couple of parentheses enclosing some nonsensical bit of punctuation.

So the fraudulent spiked football was thrown out b/c of voting irregularity, yet the one people encouraged to vote for b/c it looks like a vagina wins. Yeah, no problem with this whole process at all.

However, I did like this one the best out of my 3 other poor options. Paranthesis representing a football as well as a "bracket"-style.  And four dashes in the middle representing the final four teams.  Perfectly fine with this.  However I'll be playing coy when my child one day asks me why it looks like "that".

Having voted for the golden vagina, I can't help but feel like my input was valued by the College Football powers that be.

You know, I was going to quit watching CFB, but now that I've had a chance to vote on this logo, I feel like I'm a part of the team, as it were. I'm going to keep watching.

is that they are making a bunch of decisions with their hands wrapped around their damn wallets.  Instead of including the fan's perspective they have marketing "experts" do all this shit, someone wants to get promoted so they come up with something they think is clever and it turns out to be garbage.

This reminds me of the 90's when MTV let people vote for the next VJ and people voted for that crazy dude named Jessie. Of course the Lady Parts logo was going to win.
