SB Wins: Clinches Share of B1G Regular Season Title

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

The SB Team is playing in Lincoln today at 2pm on BTN.  We lost last night so we need this one today.  If we win today, we will at least clinch a share of the B1G Regular Season Title.  We are 16-1 with 2 more games @ Neb and 3 more games vs NW at home next weekend.

Nebraska plays at Penn State next weekend.  So this weekend is (probably) for the Big Ten Title.  If we can steal just one game, we will be in the drivers seat.  If we win both remaining games this weekend, then it will be almost a clinch.

Look for Hutch to keep the line-up basically the same.  I dont think 1 loss is a cause for blowing up the starting line-up.

but considering her high school accolades I'm assuming she had an offer from every single California school and had her pick of any BXII or SEC school as well. Picking between Nebraska or Michigan I can understand why a pitcher might go to Nebraska, but considering the choice might very well have been UCLA, Cal, Stanford, ASU, Arizona, Florida, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, it's surprising that Nebraska came out on top (knowing nothing of the situation other than guessing based on her bio).

Hate to say it, but that was one ugly at-bat to end the top of the 6th.  Chasing pitches way out of the strike zone. :(  At least we put one across - gotta get some outs here and see what we can do in the 7th.

If by "Colie" you mean Sappingfield, she was in the game defensively the whole time; she was pinch hit for by Crummey in the top of the 7th, but she returned to the game in right field in the bottom of the 7th.

Or did you mean somebody else?  I don't know them by their nicknames.

Michigan has not clinched a share of the regular season title.

Wisconsin is 15-5 with 3 games to go, Michigan is 17-1 with 4 games to go.  If Wisconsin goes 3-0 and Michigan goes 0-4, Wisconsin ends up 18-5 and Michigan ends up 17-5.  That rainout in Indiana would come back to bite us.

It's very improbable, but technically not impossible, that Michigan does not win even a share of the title.

Looks like you're right - the BTN commentators were saying all day that we had a chance for a share with a win today.  We did put Nebraska away, but Wiscy could still sneak in there.  The good news is that all we need is one more W and we've got 4 chances to get it - I sure don't want to have to root for Sparty in order for us to get our crown!

I thought we were done for when we couldn't come up with the big hit in the 6th...but we got the big one in the 7th! Go Blue! Take the series tomorrow!!!!
