Refgate = Free Pass for uncle Charlie?
Developing a "refgate" is ND's way of illegitimating Michigan's win, which is intended to soften another uncle Charlie loss to Big Blue.
To the ND alumni, however, a loss to Michigan is a loss to Michigan, especially knowing that they blew their chance in their second to last possession when they had the lead with the opportunity to run out the clock.
[Edit: Perhaps uncle Charlie is ND's version of John Cooper. I love the smell of a 10 year winning streak in the morning.]

I hope Charlie Weis coaches at ND for the next decade.

yes, that is what he is trying and to some extent i hope he succeeds since i hope he coaches there for a thousand years and continues to be our patsy. we don't need them to fire him and somehow get nbc to pay urban meyer a gizzillion dollars to take the job. not that we can't take urban (ala th capital one bowl), but weis is such an easier target- in more ways than one.

Classic deflection tactic. Direct everyone's attention to the refereeing and hope nobody notices his poor decision-making on ND's final drive, sloppy play on special teams, and the offensive staff's inability to relay the plays in from the sideline to the huddle in a timely manner. Clausen himself said he was frustrated with how much time it was taking for him to get the play-call, hence the inopportune timeouts in the 1st and 2nd halfs. ND got beat by a more focused and better prepared team on Saturday, period.

It mostly depends on what happens with the rest of the ND season. If they recover and end up loosing to us and USC, Weis will be just fine. If they face plant against MSU and Purdue and a bunch of other mid level teams, Weis is up the creek at the end of the season.
