OT: Recruiting weekend at OSU

Submitted by Ultimate Quizmaster on
Based on what I read: Hagerup and Hicks really liked the visit, Corey Brown #2 committed, and it was hinted that Steve Miller also may have committed. If there is one thing the Vest can do very well, it is recruiting.

Tressel is a very good recruiter. We have got to start beating OSU for top Ohio recruits though. Landing Trey DePriest would be huge; both Braxton and Steve Miller are buckeye locks, unfortunately. Not sure if we have a decent shot with Doran Grant; he did visit last week against WMU. Hagerup visits us later this month, IIRC, and he would start if came here with Zoltan graduating, so hopefully that'll tip things in our favor.

It's not like we don't get some elite Ohio talent, last years class was low on ohio but its more like getting people that fit. Here is are last two classes from Ohio with rank in state according to rivals in parenthesis is their position ranking Taylor Hill 16 (21) Kevin Koger 10 (4) Elliot Mealer 14 (24) Brandon Moore 13 (8) Patrick Omameh NR Roy Roundtree 17 (44) Michael Shaw 6 (7) Isaiah Bell 27 (26) Fitzgerald Toussaint 14 (8) Justin Turner 1 (3) So we do get Ohio talent minus Taylor hill transferring, koger starts, Mealer had the accident, moore is 3rd on depth, roy is 3rd, Omameh didn't camp and pushing to start, shaw plays, bell i cant remember, Toussaint is hurt, and Turner is going to see playing time soon. For those wondering here are player we missed out on in the top 10 (elite talent supposedly) and where they went cause osu doesnt get them all 2008 Mike Adams OSU Kyle Rudolph Notre Dame DeVier Posey OSU Devoe Torrence Toledo Brandon Beachum Penn State Michael Shaw Michigan Jake Stoneburner OSU Zebrie Sanders FLorida State Mike Zordich Penn State Kevin Koger Michigan 2009 Im skipping since osu got 7 of 10 but we only offered 2 since the others didnt fit our system, so last year I want to right off as a fluke plus we got JT, and Fitz.

The atmosphere was unreal for that game. If I had been there, there's a 50/50 chance I would have enrolled at Ohio State the next day. Luckily for us, the atmosphere through two games has been at the same level. Let's hope it continues as big recruits come in.

As good as Tressel and Kiffin are, RR is every bit as good. If we continue to have a strong year, the dividends are going to come in next year's class, I think. Too many kids who have ruled M out have either drunk the negative-recruiting kool-aid or rationalized their short lists (that exclude us). I will be very happy with this class is RR finishes with an expected very strong DB class and Furman and Arimide (love that name) and then goes deep on three-star guys with attitude, maybe 25 or 26 total guys in the class. Right now, we need numbers and a bubble of attitude guys + a touch of Barwis will produce the couple diamonds in the rough to make this class a winner.
