IL TE Daniel Helm has UM in top four

Submitted by Lancer on

Scout free article. Really enjoyed his spring game visit and has recently said that UM coaches are recruiting him the hardest. Ole Miss, UF, and UT are the other three schools in his top group.

On Ohio:
“I enjoyed the visit a lot, but I’m not exactly sure if an offer may come,” said Helm. “Coach Hinton said they would continue to evaluate me after their spring game and I would know more later on, but I’m just unclear on how to consider them moving forward. It was a cool to see another campus and to check them out, but even if they decide to offer, I don’t think they would join my top four schools.”

As much as people have complained about Borges sometimes (myself for certain games as well), it's tough not to like how he uses tight ends, and I bet Helm saw that a little bit at the spring game.

Is he Swedish?  I thought maybe that's why you had the inside track.  "My dad and his dad bought their Volvos from the same guy, and he said Helm was close to committing."

That's how I imagine it anyway.

Two good things about that top 4:

We are the closest to home.

Florida has yet to offer (and Tennessee already has a TE commit, though that might not mean anything).

Bad thing about that top 4?  Ole Miss.  They're a real X factor.

It's crazy but you guys are right. I guess it just never dawned on me.

When I think of Illinois, I think B1G States + Missouri and Kentucky. Maybe Arkansas and Tennessee.

Mississippi seems like forever away. I think another reason is because we recruit pretty well in Illinois, so it just feels closers.

Assuming the afforementioned WOTS is right, we look to be in great shape with one of the countries best TEs. I'd love to get him.  As long as he doesn't play basketball for us that is...

I am from Springfield, which is 10 minutes from Chatham.  It would be incredible to have a guy from essentially my home town on the team.  If he commits, I might have to go do a scouting report when I visit my parents next.  Chatham Glenwood is somewhat of a local powerhouse.  I can't speak much to the competition level, but they are a great program.
