Michigan Football Spring Game Open Thread

I set the DVR for the BTN at 9 EST.
Is there a stream for those without BTN?
That would be a question for Jim Delaney.

Should we anticipate a commitment?
April 13th, 2013 at 11:37 AM ^
There is a visitor list that was posted yesterday I believe but we should not expect a commitment out of any of the visitors because most are deciding late in the recruiting process.
April 13th, 2013 at 11:45 AM ^
Is there any sort of anxiousness from the lack of "early" commitments? If michigan misses out on these athletes were put in a spot where we offer second rate players. I haven't been following recruiting as closely as I like so I don't know our positions with some of these guys.
April 13th, 2013 at 11:51 AM ^
We are having a small class so there should be no anxiousness. We are in very good positions with a lot of top players who plan on deciding later in the recruiting process. I trust the coaches with their plan. Don't doubt them.
Are you guys serious?
anxiousness - (psychiatry) a relatively permanent state of worry and nervousness occurring in a variety of mental disorders, usually accompanied by compulsive behavior or attacks of panic

I put the O/U at 7 commitments this weekend with 2 in the Rivals top ten. I would settle for 1 five star and 4 four stars.

I have a [mostly] complete one on TTB.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:03 PM ^
Any chance Chase Winovich commits this weekend? Kyron Watson is visiting next weekend and said it's possible he would commit on his visit.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:36 PM ^
There's always a chance, but usually that happens with guys who have Michigan as their leader going into the visit. It doesn't often happen that a team comes from behind to gain a commitment on the visit itself.
Have you watched Noah Furbush's HL yet? If so, what do think...I was thinking Jake Ryan when I watched it.
He looks a little bit stiff. I'm not sure if he has the lateral movement to be truly Jake Ryan-esque. He looks a little like a weakside defensive end to me, maybe more like Brennen Beyer than Jake Ryan.

Fyi it's streaming live on BTN2GO
April 13th, 2013 at 11:48 AM ^
it's also available on your smartphone or other electronic device on iHeart Radio.
I installed it last weekend on my android phone, now I can put it to good use and listen to WTKA's live coverage while I drive up to GR for a nephew's wedding today. Just tuned in; they're right now talking about changes Mattison has been making with the defense due to the loss of Jake Ryan (and occasionally even mentioning the on-field action of the Alumni Game).

You have to log on with your cable provider account login though. Sadly, Comcast is conspicuously missing from the options.
April 13th, 2013 at 11:56 AM ^
That's interesting. I'm confused though why doesn't Comcast provide btn for some people? I have Comcast and have btn...
April 13th, 2013 at 12:01 PM ^
Comcast has BTn, they just don't support BTN2go. U-verse is the same way.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:02 PM ^
Because Comcast... that's why.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:19 PM ^
For those who can't watch the game until the replay at 9pm but want updates in this thread.
I'm going to try and give as much play-by-play as possible.
Between commercials, time between drills, and the fact that this is THE FORT and they're not going to give us much...I feel like I can take some time to give as much detail as possible to keep me entertained.
My guess is that they'll do some drills then do 1st team O vs. 1st team D, 2nd team O vs. 2nd team D and rotate for about 50-60 plays. But that's just based off what we've done in the past.

Thanks Yost. This will hopefully make sitting though my daughter's ballet practice more palatable.

Michigan and Ohio wouldn't move their start time for the Spring Games...can't say I blame either school.
Also funny, and by funny I mean annoying, is that here in San Diego I get 5 different Big Ten Network channels on Time Warner Cable, yet the dumb thing is that each channel is ALWAYS showing the exact same thing as the other channels! What's the point of having 5 different BTN channels if they show the same damn thing all the time?! This would be the ONE TIME that I would actually like to be able to use multiple channels, so that I could watch the Michigan game live instead of dvr'ing the tape delay.
April 13th, 2013 at 11:54 AM ^
Come football season they won't all be the same. On many game days there are two or three different games on BTN at the same time.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:04 PM ^
now that I think about it, I do remember being able to watch a few different Big Ten games by flipping back and forth between the channels last fall. I guess I was just venting because the other 9 months of the year the channels all show the same thing, and I was hoping that today they'd make use of the many channels.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:07 PM ^
They're just preparing for when the Big Ten has 27 teams.
3 divisions of 9 teams. Istead of a championship game, there will be a B1G football tournament with the 3 division champions and a wild card.
I don't think they'll still be calling it something stale and inaccurate like the Big Ten at that point, though. I'm sure the braintrust will develop a catchy and more contemporary name by then, such as the Big Ten Plus or something.
Finally added the BTN to the basic package? Or did you have to buy the added sports package?
When I signed up with them I had to pay extra to get the BTN through that added sports package. I'm not sure if that's different now for new customers. Heck, I might be overpaying now if it's now part of the basic package.

i have heard rumblings that lawrence Marshall would not be at the Spring game, instead taking a visit to MSU. Anyone wish to confirm this?
April 13th, 2013 at 12:01 PM ^
I read on ESPN last nght that he's attending the Ohio spring game.
Here's a link to the article. It is paywalled so I won't cut & paste the relevant text, but the gist of it is that since the Michigan and OSU games are at the same time, he had to choose--and chose unwisely.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:06 PM ^
My tale on that is that since he can come to AA so easily (and has) he picked OSU for the spring game. It doesn't necessarily mean he favors them over us.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:10 PM ^
I am hoping he commits to the Buckeyes again today, and then withdraws his committment again on Monday morning.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:44 PM ^
Marshall isn't visiting OSU. He's not on the list on any of the OSU sites.
April 13th, 2013 at 11:56 AM ^
Cannot confirm but I never felt good about landing him anyway. Don't know why? Just don't.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:00 PM ^
Because he committed to Ohio once already?
even before that
April 13th, 2013 at 12:02 PM ^
Obviously it's not going to be a real game, but does anyone know the order of practice or any specifics?
April 13th, 2013 at 12:04 PM ^
Devin as all-time QB and a 5-apple rush count?
April 13th, 2013 at 12:38 PM ^
No it 10 Mississippi according to MGoBlue.com.
that Mississippi (Ole Miss) "bought" the snap count, too? They've already waaaay over-signed and bought $everal top recruits; my God, when will all of this mad-SEC-ness stop!!!
/s
Would you count Mississippi's when we are at Michigan?
At my house, we count 1 Michigan 2 Michigan....
C'mon man.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:04 PM ^
So it's not on tv? I was looking forward to watching some of it on BTN. They have Illinois on right now.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:07 PM ^
9pm tonight on BTN (or live on BTN2go)
April 13th, 2013 at 12:09 PM ^
Anyone know if he has tried any of Michgian Stadium's ice cream in a waffle cone, yet? He like it?
April 13th, 2013 at 12:14 PM ^
And subsequently committed to Ohio. Then he called Michael Ferns who flipped to Ohio. Bad start to the day.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:15 PM ^
To make matters worse, Luke Fickell flipped from OSU to Michigan.
April 13th, 2013 at 12:18 PM ^
To Michigan State?? Ugh we could go on for days.
