OT: Is the NFL Network Red Zone the best channel ever?

Submitted by wolverine1987 on
Some of you know that the NFL Network has added a new channel that debuted today. It's all live action coverage, no commercials, and they jump around and show every game where a team is in the red zone. So it's basically all scoring drives all the time, and is not only great for following your fantasy team, but for keeping up on the other games. I was riveted, but then I have no life.

Without a doubt, YES! The only way they could make it better is to get in in HD (at least on Comcast). 7 hours of no commercials and various games is pretty sweet!

U-verse offers NFL RedZone in HD, so yeah it was awesome. You are pretty much guaranteed to see all the close games at the end. For late afternoon games, it was pretty easy to follow 3 games. However, it does not beat college football..nothing will.

I agree on the content of the channel being one that could have a better focus (college football is incomparable), but the function of the channel is the coolest and I'm not familiar with any channel that does this for college football because of the broadcasting issues associated with doing so.

Is it that exciting to watch pro team after pro team fail to score a touchdown and trot out the field goal keeker? I bet none of them ran a zone-read with an ankle-breaking cutback by the quarterback for a wide-open touchdown run. (just finished my forum post on anti-college football fans so I am in the mood.)

This comment doesn't warrant it's own thread, but... Anyone watching the Bears game on NBC's web player? They just had a commercial for the ND-MSU game next weekend that was high-larious. "After beating Notre Dame 6 times in South Bend, Michigan State comes to town this weekend. But Notre Dame is back and looking for REVENGE!" Hmm, who wrote that gem up?

Super PUMPED!! Why didn't comcast advertise this around Chicago? I am so depressed I missed even one sunday of it. Another thought: Wouldn't this channel defeat the purpose of paying the huge fee to DirectTV for NFL Sunday Ticket? I'm curious as it seems you are getting the parts of the game that really matter and most people are looking to see FOR FREE!
