OT: Oladipo going pro
Lots of Big Ten talent going pro....
Assembly Hall, I can't say I'm rooting for him.
I think he has a good career in front of him. Can guard multiple positions, super athletic, and an improving shot. With his work ethic and attitude he could be a good to great NBA player. I wish him the best.
I won't miss him.
Michigan fan in me is glad to see him go pro
but the Pistons fan in me wants them to draft him. He is one of the few pieces in the draft that could fit on the team.
and wouldn't mind the Bullets (Always Bullets, never Wizards) drafting him either. Outside of Wall and Beal the lineup is pure shit. Oladipo could guard anywhere from a 2 to a 4 and contribute on the glass immediately. His shot should keep developing too. Much prefer him over Zeller come draft time as well.
He could guard a lot of NBA 3s, but no 4s. Many NBA 3s are 6'7" or shorter, or are an inch or two taller and thin. I think Oladipo could guard either group. The guys like Durant and Lebron he'd struggle with, but who doesn't?
I'd like to see the Pistons pick Trey this year. That way they can move Knight to the two. We'd be a solid 3 away from a very good team.
its pretty easy to see why all these big ten players are leaving early. they have had longer time to think about it than our players. Boo ya! its on like bing bong, jack!
i hear zeller going pro too.... hopefully burke sees the big ten title opportunity and sticks around
When is the deadline for entering the draft? And any word recently besides Mcgary saying he'd stick aruond a week or two ago? Mcgary reconfirming would be nice too, consider his rise up the draft boards.
i think this sunday.
its not sunday.tuesday is the last day you can withdraw your name. my bad. i'm not sure how my last comment was offtopic but whatever.
April 28th
There's a sort of false deadline in that the NCAA gives players an earlier date but the NBA doesn't require you to declare until the later date, so you really can just wait until that later date to declare, b/c you don't care if you violated the NCAA rule if you're leaving anyway.
Let go man.
Though unlikely, I think there's a realistic chance he stays - maybe 20%. I'm not one who thinks it's a done deal.

Anyone else think he's overrated as an NBA prospect?
Yes he's an elite athlete and probably will be a lockdown defender. But if I'm drafting a 2 guard in the top 5 I'd want him to be an elite scorer. A guy that can put up 20+ ppg. Does anyone see that out of Oladipo?
The guy scores off cuts, in transition, through hustle and occasionally going to the rim and he's a decent spot-up shooter. But he has no crossover, no moves, no pull-up jumper and when he's not throwing down thunderous dunks I rarely ever see him get to the basket in traffic and finish through contact.
Just like I didn't understand why he was even in the conversation for POY I don't understand why his draft stock is so hyped. I see him becoming Tony Allen at best.
1) I don't think he goes in the top 5.
2) This year's draft class is garbage. Who else would you take over him at the 10th pick? Shabazz, Burke, Len, Noel, Mclemore, Porter, and Zeller are probably all off the board by then.
3) Beyond just athleticism he has shown the ability to improve drastically year to year. SI did an article on him recently basically showing his changes year to year in high school, then year to year at Indiana.
4) I agree that in other years Oladipo in the top 10 just wouldnt happen. But compared to the Bullets drafting Jan Fucking Vesely at #6 recently, Oladipo looks fantastic.
That's not why. Noel is a big time talent, and that injury won't affect him much at all in the NBA. He would be up there in any draft year.
But that's like the worst comparison ever...
What passing ability do you see in Oladipo that makes you compare him to arguably the best passer in the NBA?
This Victor gets no Hail from me. Byeeeeeeeeee.
Not sad about this at all... Really hope Zeller follows him, but if McGary stays, I wouldn't mind watching McGary destroy him either...
Any word on if Crean accused him of ruining the program?
So with players like Oladipo leaving early, does this affect the projections on other players who might be considering leaving early....i.e. GRIII?
Moves GR3 down slot with every lottery SF that declares, we need Otto to declare, fuck it just everyone that is lottery needs to declare. Chad Ford mocks are way off of consensous though.
@RonnieRamos: Breaking II: Sources tell IndyStar #IUBB Cody Zeller will have a press conference tomorrow on his decision. Stay tuned.
Looks like Indiana fate will be decided soon.
Russ Smith (from last night) will go pro per ESPN.

next year. IU loses a lot of talent. OSU loses Thomas. Michigan probably loses Burke. Minnesota loses Mbakwe right? MSU is losing some guys I think.
Payne would be their only NBA prospect who's "ready". Dawson and Harris would be mistakes imo. None of those guys have said a word.
Losing Thomas is big, but I think that's about all they lose. Some of the younger guys started playing a lot better towards the end of the year. I'd guess they'll be right in the thick of the big ten race next year.
No. Mbakwe will be back for his 73rd year of eligibility.
a 6th man type at best in the NBA, come in to rest the starters and defend and give a team some energy. That would be my guess.
And as for Zeller, he's soft in college, the NBA will eat him up, mostly a back-up as well IME.
Calling a guy a "6th man" in the NBA isn't the knock you might think it is.
I'm surprised Oladipo is leaving, about as surprised as all the POY hype he got. I thought he would and should stay and potentially be a star next year with a more developed game and higher usage.
I'm confused about this though: "The junior....Oladipo, who is on track to graduate in May." How is a junior athlete graduating in three years? Don't think he redshirted. Not a suspicious-they-must-be-cheating question, I'm genuinely curious how that's possible.
hype: exaggerated publicity; hoopla.
I don't understand what was confusing.
