Here is what I don't understand.  When you blow the whistle on a play like this, what are you actually seeing?  I mean there is so clearly no contact at all here.  Do you just anticipate the contact so much before the play occurs that you can't help but make the call?

When you blow the whistle on a play like this, what are you actually seeing?

You're seeing poor Kevin Ware on the sideline and realize you need to do something to advance the most important narrative in the tourney.

You're seeing that the line in Vegas is L'Ville -5, and they're currently only up 3.

The NBA ref saga a few years ago along with the recent Pac 12 shit has forced me to always wonder how much the refs inentionally alter games.

I don't know that we would have won had the game been called better.  I do know that Trey and Mitch would have been on the court more, and L'ville likely would have had fewer ORebs, fewer steals, and fewer FTAs.  Wish we could have seen what would have happened.

Still incredibly happy that we're in a position to play "What if" after a national title game.  Who saw this coming 4 years ago when we inexplicibly missed the tourney?  Or 3 years ago when we were a leadership anneurysm away from another disappointing season?

Hopefully only Trey and THJ leave.  Spike, GR3, Nik, Mitch, Caris + Walton and Irivin is a helluva top 7.  If Donnal can contribute, it's even better.

Fuck you Refs

Goaltending that was missed at the beginning of the game foreshadowed the rest of the calls.

So proud of this team and they have nothing to be ashamed of.

if you want to vent about refs there's a thread already in existence for that.  And that thread is one too many, you all sound like the Syracuse fans that so many UM fans were bashing last week because of the charge call gripe (not to mention the questionable blocking foul called on Syracuse moments before).

It was a bad call, but guess what?  Burke wouldn't have needed to make that play if they hadn't just squandered their own possession and set up the fast break.  After the play, UM had the ball down 5 with 5 minutes remaining.  Plenty of time and plenty of opportunity to take the game.  All the focus on the 2 points the ref cost them (in a 6 point loss)  and not on the fact that UM couldn't get a body on the hot shooter.

To be clear, I loved this UM team and am not disappointed at all in their performance (though obiously I'm really disappointed in the outcome).  I think it takes away from what was a great game and is incorrect to be putting so much of the outcome on the refs.

I'm glad I'm abroad and was watching ESPN International with Vitale announcing.  He never gets on the refs; focusing on the players makes the game much more enjoyable.

The refs did not lose this game for Michigan, but to compare the complaints over this call to the Syracuse "blarge" is unfair and wrong.

The "blarge" was a 50/50 call at best that refs are never consistent on. Could it have been a block, yes, but there were experts who even with slow motion replay said thecharge was a good call.

No one is watching this replay and calling this a foul, it was a blown call plain and simple. Michigan could have done a better job of holding onto the lead and making this play a moot point, but its more then fair to expect the refs to get calls like this or the earlier goaltend correct.

true, they're different calls.  But what Michigan fans have in the 'call was 100% wrong' category, Syracuse fans have in the 'this call very clearly decided the game' category.  If I'm watching each of those calls go against my team in their respective situations, I think my negative responses would be comparable.  I guess that's subjective though.

I'll add to this that it's a bit of a pattern for the basketball fans here.  Seems like just about every Michigan loss this season was put on the terrible b10 refs.

but the bad calls happened all...game...long.  On BOTH sides.  It had to be one of the worst officiated games of the tournament.

If it happened in a 1, 2 or 3-point game with 1 minute left then yeah, it's a game changer.  But there was a ton of time left and we were down like 5 or 6.  Louisville outplayed us down the stretch when it mattered most.  It seems like they didn't miss a shot in the last 7 minutes of the game.

You can SEE THE SCORE in the video. It was a three-point game with five minutes left. This goes uncalled and Michigan makes a basket, it's a one-point or tied game.

What happened instead? Siva made both and then I think Louisville got a quick turnover. Now it's a seven-point game with under five minutes left. See how that works?
