it goes:

"Michigan has won a number of different ways. Lets see what they do if we hamstring their 2 best players, call the game inconsistently and ignore critical calls."

Louisville is a very good time but spare me the bullshit about "the better team won tonight". This UM team was phenominal and is worthy of a champion.

I will criticize Hardaway, though. He has shot terribly the last few games and I find it very frustrating that he took the most shots tonight.

YAAAAAAWN... losing fans complaining about the refs in basketball...  I thought we were a touch better than that here.  Refs were not good for us, but aside from the clear Burke block, down the stretch they did try to even things up a bit with tons of calls to get us to the line.

End of day, the better team won.  Only Burke and Albrecht showed up.  McGary had an off game, Hardaway was off (as usual), Stauskas and Lavert non-existent, and GR3 had his usual decent, but not spectacular game.

Louisville on the other hand, only had Russ Smith off his game.  Siva had a huge game and executed perfectly, the big center made every ridiculous baby hook, their role playing forward had a monster night with 12 boards and 18 points, Hancock was his usual icy self making huge 3s and free throws, and flat out, Pitino coached a great game plan.

Better team won.  Period.  THANK YOU BOYS FOR A GREAT SEASON!!!!  Thank you Coach Beilein.  We far exceeded expectations.  Can't wait for next year.

Quit whining. The refs weren't great, but they played better than us. Rebound and hit FTs and we win this.We fucking didn't.

3 baskets...you dont think having 10 more calls go louisville's way doesnt effect the outcome...

Hell, 1 call doesnt get blown (Burke block) and i think we have a decent chance at winning this, 2 calls (Burke block, Timmy Goaltend) and I think we win this game.

Yes, Louisville took adavantage..but fuck them.

I agree that the refs really sucked and definetly didn't help your cause but i think even without the refs, you all got out coached, and louisville looked like they wanted it more down the stretch. If burke doesn't sit as long at the end of the first half i think that could have changed the swing there and at the end it just looked like louisville was working harder... The fouls were 22-15 with 3 or 4 of michigans coming at the end to try to extend the game and michigan was in the double bonus forever in the second half there. Again, i think the refs contributed but i don't think you can put it all on them. Great season though, i think they represented the B1G very  well and let the bashing on me begin.

I actually posted "good luck now go get louisville" on this board after you beat syracuse, I added that i wouldn't be pulling for you come football season but I did give well wishes, but I'm glad basketball is over so I can stop that lol

F-you, c-sucker. The only point I will concede is that L took full advantage of their fortuitous officiating. Don't fucking point out the foul differential. Louisville just keeps fouling and knows the refs won't take their players out of the game in the end. Someone convince me Mitch's fourth foul and UL's 11 not getting his fourth didn't profoundly affect the game.

It was shitty officiating, but it was pretty bad both ways. Missing free throws in the second half killed the comeback. Usually being in the bonus is a good thing, but we were consistently following up their baskets with 1/2 at the line.

The refs did screw us over a couple of times. That is true...but free throws have hurt us all season, and it seems fitting that the missed free throws costed us the game today. That's my opinion. Either way, this was a great season, and I'm already getting pumped about this fall. It's all about football from here on out.

if this isn't the biggest bag over the head, punch in the face, GODDAMNIT! Ahhhhhh, hey! If any of you are looking for any last minute gift ideas I'd like this three refs brought right here from their happy holiday slumber over on Melody Lane with a big bow on them and I'd look them in the face and tell them what a brainless, dickless, hopeless....ahhhh, what's the point. Go Blue. Goodnight.

If I was one of the players in a presser asked about the refs I would say the refs weren't the reason we lost the game, but you know what kind of job they did.

Horrible officiating. Hell I'll let the goaltending, the 2 horrible fouls on Burke, and the fourth foul that could've been called on Hancock go. Just call the damn over the back on Behanan! Dude ran from the free throw line and jumped on top of Burke's neck for crying out loud. Not only do we keep possession only down 4 with plenty of time left, we're at the free throw line to cut it to a 1 possession game. The game was essentially OVER once Louisville got the ball back then. Just a shitty way to end such a great game.

above Michigan to blame the refs. Better team won tonight. The program is moving in the right direction, lets think about that and give Louisville their due, they won a hard fought game and overcame some bigtime adversity.

Since when are you allowed to continuously hand check the ball handler?  Louisville was mugging Burke the entire 2nd half and the 3 blind mice let it go pretty much the entire time.  I"m sure Pitino told them to do it at halftime because one he saw what a bunch of dimwits he was dealing with he knew they could get away with it.

I agree we didn't make enough free throws but the refs were too one-sided. Unfortunately I've seen that at all levels of basketball from 3rd grade to the NBA. Can't believe it was so one-sided in an NCAA Championship game though.

defensive rebounds in he second half, we win. They were better tonight. I love our kids and they deserve credit and praise. Forget the officials and think about what these guys accomplished.

Michigan outplayed Louisville by a slight margin today but the refs gave Louisville an edge.  You take out the egregious bad calls and non calls (by the way, was Louisville playing football inside at the end?) and Michigan wins.

But that's college basketball for you.  Sometimes it's just luck that makes the difference - assuming the difference in calls was just luck.  Michigan was lucky to make it past Kansas and today luck turned against them.

It was a great year and the team should have nothing but pride in their play this year.

SteveE

April 9th, 2013 at 12:33 AM ^

You know why we lost? Louisville keyed in on Spike during the second half and forced the team into some tough decisions. We failed to do the same to Hancock. Yeah we got shafted on some calls. That's basketball.

I don't know who it was, but early this season when we were undefeated, someone posted on a game thread that our failure to hit free throws would cost us a game. He got negged to hell. Now, that's not the reason we lost the game, but it didn't help matters.

Hell of a season, boys. Time for some football.

Guys... let's just lose with class.... you're all making our rival fanbases rejoice in schadenfreude and acting like Cuse fans after our game vs them. We lost, it's over, complaining ain't changing a thing.

Jinxed

April 9th, 2013 at 12:47 AM ^

Yeah, ok... go back and read the post-Cuse thread about some guy talking about his Cuse fan friend complaining about refs. The same people making fun of Cuse fans are now up in arms about the reffing. Some people need to stick to their convictions when things go south for a change. Every time a rival fanbase complains about reffing, there's an endless stream of people saying "don't let refs decide it" "they're biased" "they're watching the game with x colored goggles." But invariably, after a loss, everyone keys in on one or two plays that "screwed michigan over."

Before negging me, take a minute to think about who's actually being rational. This is Michigan, I'd like to think we have rational fans.

JHendo

April 9th, 2013 at 12:55 AM ^

Rational fans vent, sometimes nonsensically.  Irrational fans pretend everything is sunshine and rainbows and/or that all situations require stoicism.  And I don't believe you'll find me laughing at Syracuse fans on whatever post you're talking about.  There's a time to tell everyone to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and wipe the snot from their nose.  And then there are times to just back off and let people be.  This time would be the latter.  Tomorrow, you have my blessing to  chastise the whiners.

I agree. From the very first two minutes of the game the refs missed a clear goaltending call against Louisville. But so what. Louisville played excellent, and the two teams put together a legendary game. We had plenty of chances to win it. Hats off to Louisville. They played a hell of a game.

Medic

April 9th, 2013 at 12:34 AM ^

Louisville is not the better team. We shot 70+% from the line (which is fine). I dare anyone to name 3 horrible fucking game changing calls that didn't go Loiusville's way. We got hosed and the only consistent thing was Michigan was getting absolutely fucked by bad calls.

Doc Brown

April 9th, 2013 at 12:34 AM ^

I don't care what people say or the pundants acknowledge... Michigan should have won this damn game and deserved to win this game. We were the better team, played better, and rose above the  officiating the best we could. People say you can't blame officiating, in this case you'd be an idiot if you didn't.  First time in a long time that I could say that the refs cost us the game. The style of officiating along with the completely blown calls! I'm sick, and Belein should address it... When the announcers address you, you know that it's obvious.

The refs didn't beat us Louisville did but the refs definitely have their fingerprints all over this game. Worst Michigan called game since we played Nebraska in the Alamo bowl game in 2005.

I love punishment so I turned on ESPN. Why is Michigan so hated by those guys? Wow. Jay Bilas said we shouldn't even be talking about the Burke block because Bohannan, screw spelling, was "getting mauled" on every play.
