Both GRIII and Burke fouled on made jump shots (GR III's being blatantly obvious) to add to the list.
I don't care what people say or the pundants acknowledge... Michigan should have won this damn game and deserved to win this game. We were the better team, played better, and rose above the officiating the best we could. People say you can't blame officiating, in this case you'd be an idiot if you didn't. First time in a long time that I could say that the refs cost us the game. The style of officiating along with the completely blown calls! I'm sick, and Belein should address it... When the announcers address you, you know that it's obvious.
I agree. Lets not let this die. It was outright robbery, plain and simple. All the blown calls were at very critical junctures, and against (and one case decidedly NOT against) key players. I'm just so angry and disappointed that this is what we have to accept.
Lets get official. Start writing some letters, congressmen, etc...

Awful awful officiating on both ends of the floor. We got screwed more than Louisville, and as mentioned above the calls on us really stymied any chance of a comeback. I don't think we could have played any better on offense but if we could have made at least a couple defensive stops/rebounds when it mattered this could have been a different game too. But the officiating.... WHAT THE FUCK REFS
dtermined the outcome of the came. You knew it was gonna be a bad night when they miss a very easy goal tend in the first two minutes of the game. Just horrendous.

I'm not going to complain about the refs in the sense that they influenced the outcome. I'm going to complain about them because they deprived college basketball fans of a well-officated game and at times just made a mockery of the competition.

That's the saddest thing. Those are two really fun teams who play an attractive style of basketball. Competently and fairly officiated, it would have been just a tremendous game. I'm not sure we win (I tend to think it goes OT), but it would have been a much more fun experience.
This is just bitter. Well not entirely bitter, as I loved this team, but that would have been an awesome, awesome game with competent officials.
This is a great point, actually. I could complain until the sun comes up about the officiating, but nobody wants to hear that. If the game played out like the first half did and we lost? That'd be ok, that was one of the best sporting spectacles I've ever witnessed. The second half was a crime to the sport, the team, and the fans. I am absolutely livid about the officiating in a way that I never have been before.
So proud of this team. They played their butts off all season and had an unforgettable run in the tournament.
That being said, I can't get over the officiating. Between the missed goaltend, the inexplicable foul on Burke on what was the cleanest block I've ever seen, the two times Hancock jumped into the defender and got 6 free throws, the over the back missed at the end which forced Levert out of bounds, etc, etc. It was an abomination of an officiating job.
I love these kids - McGary, Hardaway, Robinson, Spike, Stauskus, Morgan, Horford, and especially Trey deserve all the credit in the world and deserve better than what they got today.
But it was still quite possibly the worst officiated basketball game at any level in at least 10 years. Those 3 bozos should do college basketball a favor and all retire tomorrow morning.
If any of them can watch the tape of that game and still think they should be a basketball ref, then they clearly don't take much pride in their work.
The sad thing is, there are probably a ton of guys busting their ass in obscurity somewhere who will never get a chance while these clowns are allowed to go out there and make fools of themselves in the national title game.

I hate to be this guy but the refs sucked this whole tournament. The worse part is nothing will done about it.
This game was quantitatively and qualitatively worse by many degrees, not just from other games in this tournament but from almost every sporting event I've seen. I can think of an NFL game and a college football game off the top of my head that I watched which had refs who called an equally imcompetent game, but this is easily top five. These were bush league refs calling the NCAA championship game. Every game has calls that are questionable; this had call after call which were clear to everyone but those paid to make them.
Were pile of crap from the start on the no goaltending call.
It was well executed in the first half in terms of Michigan's gameplan, but the second half Louisville adjusted and Michigan didn't know how to find open looks on offense, especially behind the perimeter, and they also started getting butterfingers when it came to rebounding
Really the thing that pisses me off the most is not giving that foul to Hancock. He hit a dagger 3 pointer after that.
I mean the goal tend, shit call on Burke, calling LeVert out of bounds were absolute shit too, but my god HE HAD 5 FOULS.
But the NCAA got their feel good story of Ware so I guess that's what they were after.

..but they were at least a +15 point difference in this game in favor of louisville.
I will give Louisville credit for taking advantage of the opportunities given to them, and good for them for doing so.
Anyone trying to tell me that an equally officated game Louisville would of won, I'll call BS.
Let's not get carried away.
I would only count as gimmes:
1. Goal Tending - 2points
2. Burke foul on HandCock's three - 2/3 free throws - 2points
3. Burke Block - 2 points
6 points that is more than fair accounting for what went down. Other problematic calls had an obvious impact that can't be accounted for in points.
1. Trey Burke should not have been in foul trouble. (goes with 2 above and 3 above)
2. HanDCock should have been in foul trouble with 4th (hit another 3 at the end after receiving what should have been his fifth, however concede he would have played differently with 4 and also nothing to say another player doesn't hit that shot.
3. McGary got blocked very hard in the back lost the ball afterwards.
None of those add up to a certain Michigan win, but they all add up to a a certainty that we would lose.
I don't normally bitch about the refs, because it is what it is in college basketball, where it is frustrating is that you expect to have the best of the best out there in the NC game. I mean for me the most frustrating was watching the Louisville pressure which was basically one constant foul and nothing called.

The most frustrating thing was I honestly believe that if Michigan plays these guys 10 times, we win 6 or 7. Louisville needed a lot to go right for them tonight, including some very fortuitous calls.
Absolutely. I don't truly believe Louisville is better than us (that's not homerism, it's truly what I think). We win a multi-game series against them regardless of refs. Alas, the other way around, I think we absolutely lose a best-of series against Kansas. The excitement and drama of the tourney is that it's not about who's the better team, but who's better on that night, whether that "better" is 3rd party assisted or not.
But Michigan missed a lot of easy shots and did not do a good job hitting FT! I think if they had got these easy baskets they would have won or it would have been decided at the buzzer!

Michigan hit the exact same number of FTs as Louisville without only 2 more attempts. I know people like to bitch about missing FTs, but against IU they hit 53% of their FTs; this game, around 75%. So they lost, but it wasn't because of the charity stripe.
