UM Students Light Couches on Fire last night

Submitted by Lionsfan on

Apparently last night, a few UM fans decided to take the celebrations a little too far.

Contrary to belief, they do burn stuff in Ann Arbor after a big win twitter.com/jackHammerTime…

I don't get how fans who really follow our sports don't get that the meme of MSU students burning couches and rioting that we use so often is for insulting purposes, yet feel like behaving in just that pathetic behavior? And Daniel Hall, I don't know you or whether you were directly involved, but you sir are a pathetic loser and a disgrace...you belong at State

Couch burning is so bad. Still don't understand why a celebratory pyre isn't just crazy college fun. If its your own couch, why not?

If its someone else's property, a car or capable of injuring a person or other property that seems more problematic.

This is not a book burning people.

I only wish we were original about it. Perhaps burn a patch of potatoes and then feed the homeless.

if we were honest we could come up with a pretty long list of embarassing stories from our time in Ann Arbor...

We burned a couch once... cause we could.

not the best decision, and certainly not one of good representation of the university... but there were a plethora of future scholars there and no one thought to stop it...  until the urination began.

I'm not finding a single local news source corroborating this and, frankly, those pics and that video could be from anywhere. On Facebook they show a different pic and link the Daily, but all the Daily said was that it was a quiet, tame celebration. Might be wishful thinking, but could we be looking at a hoax?

One of my friends who lives near there posted pictures of it, so it's likely real. Pretty pathetic. On the other hand, both South U and the Diag were rocking last night, and that was tame outside of a few people climbing up trees and one of the light poles in the Diag.

Sadly, I righted a bunch of turned over garbage cans in A2. People were going crazy (I assume they had subs) but it wasn't completely out if hand. Was disappointed to have to take measures to keep A2 from being EL
