A medical hardship unto the third-stringer who ruins Miller's ACL. The article was pure fluff, Spence probably got a good talking to away from the reporter. Even a defensive end knows you don't hit the offensive franchise.

OHIO actually wrapped up a tackle? Perhaps nothing, but I wonder what this says about the level of respect that Braxton's teammates have for him.

I will never wish injury on a player, even if its an Ohio State player, but if Miller were somehow to get injured by a defender in these drills, I wouldn't be all that upset. In fact I'd probably laugh my ass off. I get that Meyer wants a physical football team, but why he's putting his Heisman-caliber QB at risk is beyond me.

at the general lack of intelligence on the ohio team:

"Miller took a shot to the ribs from defensive end Noah Spence in practice, according to the Associated Press. That's not very smart. What's really not very smart is that's the second time Miller has taken a shot to the ribs this week.

Miller was down for several minutes, the AP said. When he got up, he confronted several defensive players on the sideline. Hope he didn't use too many big words with those guys who can't understand hurting your own quarterback in spring might not be in the best interest..."

"Miller stayed down for several minutes. As backup Kenny Guiton replaced him, Miller confronted some defensive players on the sideline before being restrained by teammates." -from the AP piece linked in the article

The Yahoo! piece didn't mention that Miller needed to be restrained per se, but I am pretty sure that Spence only has to do that a few more times to match his total for solo tackles last year. Then again, it could mean that Miller has become so good with the option that the defense buys in totally, ignores the ball completely and just goes after Miller (probably not, however).

If ohio defenders want to knock their own QB around in practice, let them. I don't wish an injury upon anyone, but if they're so deadset on hitting a QB, then let them do it to one of their own.
