OT-People will come.

Submitted by turtleboy on

They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past. "Of course, we won't mind if you have a look around," you'll say. "It's only twenty dollars per person." They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it; for it is money they have and peace they lack.

And they'll walk out to the bleachers, and sit in shirt-sleeves on a perfect afternoon. They'll find they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll watch the game, and it'll be as if they'd dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick, they'll have to brush them away from their faces.

People will come.

The one constant through all the years has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past. It reminds us of all that once was good, and it could be again. Oh, people will come. People will most definitely come.

All things are still equal in baseball, so here's to a great year. Bless you boys, and Go Tigers!

To be honest Michigan's tourney run has tempered my baseball fix, I'm sure that will change in a week because baseball is my favorite sport, regardless Eat em up!

Tuning in on the Tigers' radio network.  Too bad they didn't just replace Jim Price with a recording of nails on a chalkboard.  Would be less annoying and probably equally insightful.  Go Tigers.

Verlander probably didn't need to come out after 5 innings. Can't remember the last time he was relieved in the 6th, especially after such a strong start.

From this "geezer" who remembers so very well that old "Detroit Tiger Baseball!" theme song---I haven't heard those sweet notes in years!  And, speaking of sweet notes, there'll never be a voice that can measure up to that of Ernie Harwell.  Simply the best baseball voice EVER!

Too bad they used that cartoonish "Tiger in the English D"  logo for that YouTube video; I much prefer the traditional logos I grew up with:
