Atlanta...Who's Going?

Submitted by 1989 UM GRAD on

I'm on spring break with the family in Miami beginning on Wednesday but am already planning on diverting to Atlanta if we make it to the final game.

Who else is going?  Anyone on here based in Atlanta who can provide tips on where to stay, getting around, where to find tickets on Sunday, etc?

EDIT:  For those of you who've been to Final Fours, do a lot of tickets typically come available after the Saturday games?  Do the fans of the losing teams typically leave town? Tickets for today's game were going for as low as $3 as of this morning.

EDIT2:  Anyone know of any U of M bars in Miami Beach?  Need somewhere to watch the game on Saturday night.

I have tickets already to both but am now hoping to upgrade my tickets.  Is Michigan going to be selling some?

Heads up - If anyone has some cash to throw around and is looking for a real big sports experience, Monday is the first practice round of the Masters (going for about $300 a ticket right now from what I have seen).  I will personally be doing Saturday Final Four, Monday Masters practice round and Monday night NCAA Championship and now with Michigan in the mix it has increased dramatically.  Go Blue!!!

I live about two miles from the dome, so yeah...I'll be the one riding my bike to the game. I can try to put together a quick guide to the city later. Right now I have to drink.

the cheapest ticket on stubhub was $350 with 4,000 tix left.  Now, at 10pm, there are less than 1000 tix left and the price is $450.

Mrs MGoSoftball and I were planning on catching Tigers Opening Day, no drinking, then hit southbound I-75.  But for $450, I dont know about that.

I guess I will wait to see then AD releases them.

I thought about trying to set this plan up months ago.  About when we lost to Penn State I gave up on that, now I'm scrambling to set up a trip on a few days that no 24 year old can afford.  I suppose it was worth it to not tempt the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing.

I said that I was going to go if/when Michigan made it. But I have had unbelievable chemistry and karma from a certain spot on the couch. I don't want to jinx anything.

Not sure what to do.

I moved here 4 years ago for a grad program. Bought tickets yesterday and am going to the game with my sister.

This is insane. I'm just delirious with excitement and can't believe I'm going to watch Michigan play a Final Four game next Saturday.

Can someone describe the scene on the ground in Ann Arbor this afternoon? I imagine it's chaos over there

In terms of how tickets are set up, usually you get tickets to both semifinal games, and then the final game tickets are sold seperately. This is how I remember it working, at least. So I don't think there are very many tickets to the final for sale in between Saturday and Tuesday.

I would love two seats at a reasonable price not in a nosebleed section. I live eight hours away and really want to see this game. If anyone has any extra tickets please email me. Thank you.

I'll be waiting until I can buy the student tickets on Monday, but I'm definitely going if I can buy one. Already working on the way to get down there and place to stay.

I go to Atlanta often.  I recommend staying in Buckhead and commuting into downtown.  Also, I have been to several Final Fours and you can usually pick up tickets at the stadium after Saturday's games from the fans of the losing team.  They pretty much give them away.

Fortunately for me, I am going! Go Blue!

I agree with this.

Stay in Buckhead.  W Buckhead, Intercontinental and Grand Hyatt are all very short walk to Marta station.  I almost never use Marta, but it is great for access to the Georgia Dome.

I'm already here baby, I live in Decatur.

Bar recommendations:

The Porter, in Little Five Points

The Brickstore, in Decatur.

Cyprus Pint and Plate, in Midtown.

Wouldn't miss this for the world.  On a side note.... I may have 2 extra tickets in section 324 row 15 that I want to sell to a Michigan fan for face value (which I think is $185 per ticket and includes tickets to Saturday and Monday).  I won't know until the morning whether or not these will be available.  I will post it in the morning if they are not going to be used by our group.

I live in midtown, about 1.5 miles from the dome. No question I'm going! I would actually recommend staying in this area over buckhead. Much closer to the dome, and should have some great final four related activities all weekend.

I'll be driving down from DC.  This will make up for missing out on the final 4 in Atlanta in 1977 (my senior year) when we were number 1 and lost to UNC-Charlotte in the elite 8.  Now i just have to deal with the ticket issue.

Hoping I get a ticket, and then find some friends to go with, but I don't think any of them will get tickets so then I've got the transportation predicament/going on my own predicament so we'll see how this ends up. Hopefully one of them either gets lucky and gets a ticket from the student allocation or shells out the cash, or I find some other chill people to go with.

I graduated last year so I'm guessing I won't have access to student tix anymore. If someone is able to help me get a reasonably priced ticket (students?), then I might be able to help you out with the ride situation from Ann Arbor. Of course I'd pay, I'm just looking for something <$200. You shouldn't end up having to pay for gas or anything, so it'd be win-win.

The tickets are filed under your name at Will Call and they take the MCard as proof of ID. So your best bet is to find someone with the same name as you to buy a ticket off of?
