Trey Burkekamp Comment Count

Ace

The Florida preview lives here, but we're not quite finished celebrating the Kansas game yet. I make no apologies for this.

Per the request of MGoUser 4godkingandwolverines, here's the Trey Burke shot with a twist of Dennis Bergkamp (original here for those who don't get the reference):

After the jump, a few gifs of The Shot (we need a more original nickname for this, by the way) and some incredible reactions by Burke, the bench, and a couple fans.

[JUMP JUMP JUMP]

As always, click the still frames to open each gif in a lightbox.

Angle one, which best shows just how close Kevin Young got to getting a hand on the ball:

Angle two, which best shows that Josh Bartelstein is from the future:

Given the normally-stoic Burke's reaction, I'm assuming if Mitch McGary had hit a similar shot his head would literally explode:

Max Bielfeldt's bench reaction wins best in show, but Matt Vogrich hanging back to throw up the "RAWK" hand signal is nearly as stellar:

Let's go back to that second angle of the shot for a moment, though. ENHANCE.

I feel you, Blue Shirt Guy. What happens if I ENHANCE once more?

Oh no. Trey Burke killed a lady.

what this blogs obsession with Dennis Bergkamp is about? I mean, I know he was a terrific player and all (though I hated him for obvious reasons) but what does it have to do with Michigan?

Bergkamp  has nothing to do with Michigan. It's just a hillarious job of commentating that shows the difference between American announcing and European announcing. I'm sure you could find plenty more examples of announcers going nuts that we could sync with football/basketball plays.

It has nothing to do with the player, everything to do with the announcer.

The original (I believe) was Denard's run @ Notre Dame.

The NBC announcers were very "meh," then we put this clip behind the video and Denard's run was even more awesome.

The thought process is that either American announcers are weak, or they're fine but Euro soccer announcers are flat out awesome.

There's going to be a full OFAAT this week regardless of how today's game goes—I've already made most of the gifs for Kansas, just didn't have time to put a full post together. But yeah, here you go:

The laughter.  It isn't stopping.  (mostly in reference to the final .gif)

To examine the in-game moments that got us to this legendary shot is one thing, but to dissect every bit of minutiae happening on the periphery...

...that is genius.  Well done, Ace.

This might just be my Seinfeld-ian fandom coming in, but I just want to call it "The Trey."  (akin to "The Kramer")

The guy I'm facinated by is the fat Kansas guy next to the dead lady.  His expressions and arm movements during and immediately after the shot are priceless.

I've long thought that Jordan Morgan has a sort of Eeyore-ian look about the eyes, and in the ENHANCE'd gif (blue shirt guy, not dead lady), you can see Jordan watching the shot... with that typical sad-eyed expression... and then his eyes close at the shock as he explodes with joy.  Watch him - it makes me happy :)

also, I literally laughed out loud at the bench angle, where you see IDENTICAL open-wide-say-ahhhhhhhhhh mouths on Bielfeldt, Vogrich & McLimans
