Mitch Mcgary love thread.

Submitted by no joke its hoke on

what can you say? As GREAT as Burke was/is, Mcgary is the story of the tourney so far. 54 points,38!!!!!!!! rebounds in 3 games. Unreal.

McGary just did a beat down of Withey.   His last game was great against a small team but no one expected the beat down of Withey.

McGary is my new favorite player after Burke.   This guy is all over the floor and never gives up.   No one is hustling more than McGary in the last few games.  Better than Noel...no question

I'm watching the UM players press conference on my DVR and so far no one has asked Mitch about the nut shot. WTF?  That should be the first question.

Watching on the stream, and just as it looked like Michigan might have a chance to pull it close at the end, it stops and a notification appears that I've used up my "free four hours."  Didn't know I only had four hours.  And then a friend texts me that we're in OT.  So you must have gotten the part of the game I missed.

This is a true story.

It's quite amazing really - in the Tournament, Mitch McGary:

 - is 28-37, good for an FG% of 75.7% thus far

 - has 12 offensive and 25 defensive rebounds, which accounts for 46.2% and 42.4% of the team totals for each respectively.

 - is responsible for almost one-third of the team's steals in the Tournament as well.

His contribution to the team has been invaluable in getting this team to where it is now - there is no question about that.

Mitch McGary and Blake Griffin (2009) are the only players in the last 15 seasons with consecutive games of 21+ points and 14+ rebounds in the Men's Basketball Championship. He is just the 6th player since seeding began in 1979 to have two such games in a single Men's Basketball Championship.

I thought one of the turning points in the game was when it looked like Michigan had given up, and Mitch McGary was caught looking at the ball instead of diving after it and Kansas got a hustle bucket out of it.  Belein called timeout, and whatever he said it got the team to at least fight back so that Trey magic could occur.

Defensively they were suspect for much of the game, but I thought they had a spectacular offensive gameplan to deal with the presence of Withey.

That it was one of the few times all year I didn't see him making a hustle play. He made up for it but just noticing the lack of effort on one play says all you need to know about the kid. Usually you don't notice the one time someone isn't a hustle machine. I bet he sees that on film too and it just pushes him further.

As incredible as Burke was, I think Mitch was the player of the game.  He kept us in it all night when we easily could have folded.  His heart is gigantic.  I just hope the NBA scouts haven't paid any attention...

Monumental performance by Mitch. Second-most valuable player on the team - and in the first two games, probably the MVP.

Anybody else old enough that Trey + Mitch reminds them of Isiah Thomas + Bill Laimbeer?

He is UM's tournament MVP right now. He kept his team in the game tonight and destroyed VCU last weekend.

If he played like this all year, Michigan would have been B1G champs. Not knocking him...he just needed to develop...I would never question his effort. Talk about picking the right time to peak!

Go Blue! 3 down. 3 to go.

every time i see him on the court for sparty getting manhandled i'm so glad JB lost out on him, cuz we likely wouldn't have landed the big puppy.
