M vs. ND Starters
I was waiting for some one to say something about this, but I haven't seen any posts for it.
ESPN just reported that:
- Hemingway is out, Stonum is in.
- Minor won't start, but will play.
- They didn't say anything about Cissoko, so I am assuming that he is good to go.
- ND's MLB is out so their OLB is going inside and Manti Te'o will start outside.

I know ND fans are excited about Te'o, but does this bode well for our run game? Seems like a freshman might be a little more susceptible to the misdirection and more likely to make poor reads.

Minor stuff. Since the whole team is "all in" I think that we will be good. If we play as a team, then we will win.

Yeah "Minor stuff" as in Brandon Minor stuffing that little Teo LB kid...cant wait!

Amen, Brother. "All in" is more than some cutesy slogan, it is a rallying cry after what happened last year. This year the team is definitely together and that bodes well for their future. I've often heard how close the '97 team was and how some of our disappointing teams were less "in" so I think the team being "all in" is a definite advantage.

We have to just pound the ball up the middle and Tate or Denard is gonna have to be near perfect.

Someone will step up for Hemingway. I've got to think that they will get the ball to Odoms more. Hopefully Mathews or Stonum can be semi deep threats. Probably a lot of 5-10 yard passes today.

you might have just hit the nail on the head. nice insight

So you go from saying "minor stuff" to completely agreeing with the insight that someone will have to step up for Hemingway and since it likely won't happen, we'll have to throw 5-10 yard passes all day.
How do you really feel Mr. John Kerry?
September 12th, 2009 at 10:46 AM ^
Yeah, I think we need a consistent deep threat, but if the run game (or short passing game) is clicking then that might take care of itself no matter who is catching them.

Just for the chance to look stupid, I'm going to roll the dice and predict that we get some slot guys deep in the seam today.

I think we see a strong showing from Matthews today. He has the ability, his chance is now.

I hope so, too. Any idea how his speed matches up to that of Hemingway (or the ND secondary for that matter).

From the little i have gathered, Hemingway and Matthews are about the same in terms of ball handling skills, but perhaps Hemingway is a little faster and, being a bigger, tougher body, can get more yardage after the catch. I am not sure of their ability to run routes, but Matthews has more experience than either Hemingway or Stonum.

What about Stonum? He's got all the potential and talent in the world. He has just yet to put it all together. This could easily be his coming out party.

Rodriguez said yesterday that Cissoko was good to go, and is starting.

Stupid eye sight. I saw this title at annarbor.com, Technically speaking: Freshman defensive end Craig Roh is out to be Michigan's next great pass rusher. I definitely go to "defensive end Craig Roh is out" and my heart skipped a beat.

I like Craig Roh. MDen selling his jerseys yet or what?
September 12th, 2009 at 12:40 PM ^
Last I checked the injury report, Craig Roh and ALL IN were good to go...Michigan will be just fine.
As far as Te'o...18 years old AT Michigan against some of the fastest athletes in the country with Rich Rod orchestrating the plays....he's about to get an education.
