Not really a surprise, but disappointing from a fan's perspective. Best of luck to the guy, and hope to see him playing regular minutes in the NHL sooner rather than later.
Hopefully Trouba decides to stick around for one more year.

Good luck Merrill.
Hope to God Trouba stays. This team may be a national title contender if he stays. They have the pieces and showed they can win and go on runs.

Not surprising—but unfortunate. Trouba sticks around, hopefully.
Goddamn it.
Unfortunate but not surprising Hope. Fully Trouba sticks. A round?
Malheureux, mais pas surprenant. Espérons que Trouba colle autour.
Not good at all

Or do you know something the rest of us don't?

Jon Merrill has left the University of Michigan and will go to Albany (AHL). Hearing Jacob Trouba will also announce he’s leaving Michigan.

Trouba sticking around would be surprisingly fortunate - or just fantastic.

Can't blame him and probably the right choice. We're actually fortunate that he was suspended for part of last season and came back this year IMO. But he's missed about a whole season of his college career due to suspensions and injuries so it's not like his time at Michigan has been the greatest. But he's been a valuable player for us and I think he'll be a solid NHLer.

This is lacking in statistical optimality, but seems consistent with common assumptions on the underlying models. Projection of Michigan hockey success parameters into 2013-2014 would likely improve if Trouba continues pursuing a college education.

Take off, ya hoser (to the AHL)
I'm kidding, of course. This was kind of expected. Good luck to him and go blue!

Dies ist bedauerlich aber nicht überraschend. Ich hoffe, dass Trouba bleibt.
With regards to that, AnnArbor.com had a story which still does not specify a timetable for Trouba's decision, but Trouba was quoted, interestingly enough, when asked about his year:
“I think I’ve learned a lot about me as a person, about the game of hockey,” Trouba said. “There’s not really a wrong decision to make, but there’s definitely one that could be more beneficial. I’m just going to wait it out and see how I feel.”

I didn't get to watch many Michigan hockey games this year, but I did catch all but one of our CCHA tournament games and I have to say that Trouba is The Truth(R). Merrill is good, but Trouba makes people look silly and his slapshot is incredible. I'll miss him a lot more than I will miss Merrill (which is a lot)
