I just got back from the Joe.

I went to both games and been to every Michigan home game this season along with the Big Apple Classic against Cornell at MSG. It is amazing the growth this team has show since the Ohio series. It is night and day between the team I saw get blown out by BGSU and the team that showed up today and last night. It it ironic that this team's achilles heel for over half of the season, goaltending, ended up being one of our strengths by the end. Racine has a bright future. He definitely earned the CCHA All Tournament Goaltender. The way Red got the team to turn around was a great coaching job.

The streak had to end someday. It just means we need to start a new one next season in the B1G.

On another topic, the ND hockey band is perhaps the most annoying pep band I have ever witnessed. They literally played the same damn drum beat the entire game, even during play (which I thought was against NCAA rules). Hockey East can have ND and their annoying as hell band along with the Ron Mason style trap coached by Jeff Jackson.

I have been watching UM hockey since I was a kid which just happened to be the year the streak started.  I grew up going to the Joe and NCAA tourney games my whole UM hockey life every year...  My wife and I were students when getting free pizza for giving someone a 10 goal beatdown was a pretty regular occurance.  It is going to be very odd when the brackets are announced tonight and we are not in one of them.  I guess I was just spoiled a bit, but traveling with the team this time of year was just something we did automatically...gonna miss it.

I am glad they did make a run and at least make some people crap their pants about playing us in the end instead of just bowing out in the first round like they could have done.  They worked hard and went out fighting till the end and as a fan that is all you can ask I guess.

It's going to be tough to watch any of the tourney this year...hopefully the basketball team keeps the run going to keep my mind and attention off of it.

Here's to a more consistent 2013-14 season in the B1G!

Go Blue!
