Mitch McGary Moment (edit):

Submitted by MaizeMN on

Just under an hour until the Madness resumes,so I was rewatching the highlights from the VCU dismantling. I kept replaying the McGary pick that destroyed/annihilated the VCU kid.

I'm pretty sure the first thought he had was, "did anyone get the number of that truck?"

I know this because, once during a pick-up BB game, I forgot I was playing outside and introduced my face to the basket support while attempting a finger-roll lay-up. Result: bad.

Yes, I suck at basketball.

My question is: what is the hardest you've ever been hit and can you create a meme or GIF to memorialize the McGary "Stonewall" moment?

1. He hit him so hard his children will need dental work...

Contribute, enjoy; Go Blue!

EDIT: changed the title for clarity and to pay homage to Al Jolson and James Cagney.

I got hit so hard playing NMU my shin pads and helmet turned all the way around all to set up a two on one. Everything turned white what sucked was my teammate miss handled the pass and gave the puck back to me. I shouldn't have popped up but I always did no matter how much it hurt.

While playing football, I scrambled from the pocket... That decision was followed by a loud beeping noise and much confusion on my part. Apparently, once I broke through the line of scrimmage a linebacker broke through the side of my head. They said when I was on the ground I said "He sees daylight!" which was probably true...

Kind of the other way around but I was a rather big 8th grader and some kid half my size tried to set a pick on me. Unfortunately for him I didn't see him and proceeded to run him over.

I got hit by a car when I was 6. Woke up in the ambulance with my hysterical mom and a guy telling me my leg was broken while he waved around a big, funny looking pair of scissors.

Yes, a 6 year old mind can conjure up scary things - sticks break into two pieces. The tape scissors were obviously going to be used to cut off the broken part.

I once sent a kid from the rival high school to the hospital with what can only be described as a ruptured testicle.

I think I was a senior when it happened.  It was during a tennis tournament and his partner left him out to dry.  He popped up one of the most beautiful little lobs while I was at the net.  I barely had to move to make really clean contact.  The unfortunate young man on the other side decided that he would try to back-pedal and somehow attempt to return the smash.  Unfortunately for him, his racquet was not in front of the his groin, which was essentially where I was aiming.

Next thing anyone knows, he is on the ground trying to yell, but it only came out as a bit of a gurgle and a whimper.  The coaches were so confused about what to do he probably laid there for 10 minutes before they realized getting him to an emergency room would be a good idea.

TL;DR version:

Getting hit in the wedding tackle with a tennis ball from about 10' will result in massive damage.

I don't think I understand people.  I know we aren't supposed to talk about up&down votes, but I honestly can't fathom what about my story was so awful.  While the OP wasn't particularly inspired, I at least felt the need to help the guy out and post something relevant to his query.  Shame on me for doing that, I guess.  Maybe if I had put in a video of a cat getting hit in the nuts that then led directly to a .gif of the same thing, I would be okay.

Was great; but in honor of Vincent Smith, I'm trying not to spend too much time celebrating it.  Contact sports lead to contact.  It's fun when that contact favors your squad.

This is a weird thread, but I'll bite: sophomore year of HS, head down trying to collect a ground ball at midfield during a lacrosse game, didn't realize I crossed the midline (when you're entering the D's territory) and got my facemask broken off of my helmet.  Woops.

This page around the time Kyle Kalis had his epiphany. At that time, there were regular threads relative to Meeechigan recruiting. Often times, additional "insider" information was revealed. At times, light hearted threads and more often comments strayed into streams of thought-- manifesting in off topic or loosely connected gifs, sharp wit or even snarky exchanges--usually with a modicum of respect. I became a regular reader.

Some were a bit zealous in pooring over comments looking to point out others' grammatical errors or those who must step on others to appear taller(i.e.more informed). Of course, you always have "citizens agsinst virtually everything" or CAVE dwellers. This collective was drowned out by a nice balance of news, information and levity.

Now, it seems we are only left with the self indulgent, rock throwing CAVE dwellers. Three things: 1. I know- it's too long of a post. 2. I realize the door can hit me...(I'd ather, try this first). 3. Since, recruiting news threads are sparse threads and realistically softball updates only carry so much cache if people didn't try to keep the site alive with this type of thread...it'd be pretty static on this site these days.

I played goalkeeper (soccer) in high school and was in a one on one situation with the biggest guy on the other team. I dove and punch the ball from his feet, unfortunately my head ended up at the exact spot the ball used to be. I still don't remember most of that game.

I was a keeper through college, and I have a similar story.  While playing in a Fado's Cup tournament, I had a one on one where I smartly decided to replace the ball with my face.  The guy promptly punted the middle of my face.  I made the save and held onto the ball, but blood started pouring out of my upper lip and nose.  I was able to get the bleeding under control and stay in the game, but the next day I went to Cedar Point with some friends.  My upper lip was nearly the size of that youtube video where the guy got stung by the wasp.  I couldn't really talk.  I couldn't really eat.  I sure as hell couldn't smile.  My friends thought it was the funniest thing ever, but it really sucked.

I also pissed myself in 8th grade gym class.  Last day of school.  We were playing "21" and I was dribbling and looking behind me.  Clipped a volleyball net and cushioned my fall with the back of my head.  I woke up 5 minutes later with my gym teacher straddling my chest.  That was not fun.  The teacher covered for me saying I had slipped in the water, but I knew better.  I changed out of my gym clothes and threw them out.  They reaked of piss.  I was not taken to the hospital, but a nurse visited my house later that day to basically tell me I could die if I took a nap.  That's a fun thing to tell a 13 year old...

On top of that, I played high school football.  I have a few hits the knocked the shit out of me.  I've probably been concussed 3-4 times in my lifetime.  I hope I don't get all depressed and shoot myself.  I wonder if I can sue the NFL without ever playing in the NFL.
