Into the tourney. I'm glad I read all the posts about the Big Ten style of play and officiating not dictating games in the tourney. I feel so much better now. If we lose to VCU who do I blame?

Late great Peter Tosh said everyone crying out for freedom but no one cryin out for justice.  But Pete was wrong.  I have been crying out for justice for a long time and we finally have it. RIP Pete.

I vented a bit on the other thread, but I am still PO'd at Wiscy.  Why can't Big Ten teams go out and play in tournaments with even half of the passion they show against Michigan?  Where was the desperation: the feeling of launching a shot that absolutely, positively is going to go down because there is no other option?

This is the same team that makes a half-court buzzer-beater to force overtime against Michigan?  15-59 from the [bleeping] field?

"On, Wisconsin?"  No way.  How about "[bleep] Wisconsin?"

It's pretty simple Tater.   Against Michigan they were allowed...no ENCOURAGED to play icehockeybasketball by the officials.  They were allowed to hit, shove, punch, push and generally mug us unabated for 40 minutes.  And it worked!

Today they weren't allowed to play rollerbasketball and didnt know what to do.  You could see it in their faces when they'd armbar a player driving to the basket when a fould was called.  They were honestly confused because the B1G refs had allowed them to hit people at will for the past four months of play.

It's not passion they lacked.  It's the officials who believe that basketball should have the same level of contact allowed as hockey that were missing.

Hilarious stat of the day:  Wisconsin's hockey team had a better shooting percentage last night than the Wisconsin basketball team did today.

7 Goals on 27 shots (25.9%) v. 15 makes on 59 shots (25.4%)

...from the Wisconsin-Ole Miss game:

  WSICONSIN OLE MISS
EFFECTIVE FG% 31.36% 41.23%
OFF. REB. % 30.23% 28.57%
DEF. REB. % 71.43% 69.77%
ASSIST / TURNOVER 0.91 0.89

Interestingly, Wisconsin managed to maintain a better steal and block percentage and a fairly comparable turnover percentage, so Bo Ryan, in his fashion, coached Wisconsin through an otherwise typically Wisconsin game and still lost by the numbers. Ole Miss exceled in free throw rate, and that was actually one of the few stats where they were significantly better than the Badgers.

Man I had UW in the elite 8.  I love watching Marshall henderson but he's not that good and Ole Miss is terrible and might be in the NIT right now if not for a lucky SEC tourney run.
