(and because of the comments probably won't be up much longer) because the OP itself was completely facutal and I'm more of a believer in nice things than I probably should be.

I think a better question would be why this thread was only allowed to go ~60 comments at the rate things are going, but the anti-Obama thread had about double the responses. In three years of commenting and moderating, I honestly can't think of a single comment or action that would hint at a particularly favorable or unfavorable opinion of the president.

This is another reason why we need this old voting system I hear so much about (although it was before I posted much). The topic is completely harmless unless someone is moronic enough to make it political. If said person makes a stupid, tasteless political comment, they get negged ad nauseum by responsible posters. We all know the rules, and most people follow them. The 90% of us that can have fun discussing the bracket picks of one of the most famous people in the world shouldn't have our fun ruined by the small percentage of idiots who take every opportunity to make political statements.

Ah hell, no surprise he picks the Red team to win.  Probably chose to play with the Red Army men growing up too.

of your post. It is a fact that Obama is a sports enthusiast. He loves to play basketball, and is somewhat athletic for a President, particularly when compared to his predecessors. We have all probably seen video clips of him playing. I see no harm in mentioning his picks; he is the POTUS, and he plays the sport. There is no harm and it is marginally interesting. Michigan in the Elite Eight huh?

I would be so happy with that.

Save the date, I agree with the prez for once.

One way to avoid politics on the board is to not post anything related to Obama, Snyder, Congress, Senate, etc.

I realize the argument for posting it is that it's just Obama's bracket nothing political here.  Yet, half the people in this country think Obama poops gold and the other half thinks he is the devil incarnate.  How someone can post this to the board and not expect a political flamewar to ensue is beyond reason to me.  Downvoted OP for short-sightedness.

You make some good points, but as adults, we should be able to have a discussion without referring to the children.

Obama's brackets have all been pretty chalky, and this one is no exception. Unfortunately, there isn't much to say about it that hasn't already been said.

-Wisconsin to sweet 16

-Michigan to elite 8

I suppose I agree that this thread shouldn't exist--but on the grounds that it is uninteresting, not because we can't be mature.

on this board is at full blast, and it takes a special brand of immaturity to involve politics into a discussion that doesn't need it. If you can tell who's liberal and who's conservative from just reading posts, you need to shut this shit down.

I haven't logged in and commented on anything months but this warranted a comment.

....it was likely unwise of you to log in for the first time in months to leave this blatantly inflammatory remark. Bolivia until the middle of the summer.

Do I not have the free will to post my opinion? I understand there may be "consequences" for actions in life. But in the greater scheme of things I don't care what people on this blog think. Just as they may or may not care what I think. At the end of the day ones opinion is just that.
