Submitted by Paps on

Michigan will take on South Dakota State at 7:15 pm EST on Thursday, March 21. The VCU-Akron game will follow ours.

EDIT: It will be televised on CBS, and Verne Lundquist and Bill Raftery will be on the call.

EDIT #2: There's a full schedule with times, announcers, and TV listings HERE if anyone wants it.

the Tennessee game a few years back.  I was in biology class and trying to watch it using the CBS app on my phone, and my teacher caught me using it.  He asked me what I was doing, and I said I was watching a NCAA Tournament game.  He asked who was playing, and when I said Michigan he smiled and said "Keep watching and give me updates.  I bet you didn't know I went to Michigan did you?" Needless to say, we were both pumped about the 30 point win!

I was doing my graduate work, but we were on spring break that week.  Maybe my spring break in grad school was a little early or a little late, because I remember skipping classes to watch the first round of the tournament when I was an undergrad and all the guys watching it together. Of course I took 8 years between undergrad and grad school, so my memory may be wrong, lol.

Still, the Stu Douglas dunk is probably my favorite memory of Michigan Basketball in the last decade. That moment, was when I felt we were finally back.

What do you say when you're not being sarcastic and a total douche by saying "cool story, bro?" Whatever that meme is, that's what I'd like to say here.

That's pretty damn awesome, it's why I love this country...even our teachers have priorities in order.

Damn...and what a great game too!

I'm on Pacific Time, so unfortunately it is during my work time. Anyone know if you can watch these games afterwards on replay like you can on BTN2go or WatchEspn? I don't have a DVR (or VCR), and I was unable to find any info on the NCAA/CBS website. Really don't want to miss any of the game.

Don't have cable, so upgrading to dvr isn't an option. Finding a vcr just for this isn't ideal either. I suppose I can wait for it to show up on mgovideo (maybe late that night?), but would much prefer a more convenient option. If BTN and ESPN have their games available on replay, shouldn't the NCAA/Turner be able to offer the same sorta thing, especially considering lots of people will be at work during their games?

Or just not cable? If the latter TiVo has nothing to do with cable and they basically popularized the dvr. And I imagine there are a lot cheap on the secondary market considering most tv providers now have their own dvrs.

If you watch everything online, check the CBS website. There's an App you can watch all the games, but I don't know that you can replay them. Unlike ESPN you don't have to subscribe to watch, just get it.

Thanks for the Tivo idea. Didn't realize it could work without cable. I just checked Portland craigslist though, and they're all at least $60. Not worth it to use a couple times a year.

I have a TV and antenna, though I literally only use it for a few sports games a year. I really hope that the CBS/NCAA app will have replays available like BTN and ESPN. I'm new in town and don't have many friends here, but may be able to borrow a vcr from someone. Still would much prefer a more convenient option. I'll try to e-mail CBS about the replay thing.

Really hope so too. It's commonplace on BTN and ESPN, so you'd think it wouldn't be that difficult. Just not sure why they wouldn't mention anything on the web page. Sent a "feedback" e-mail through the March Madness website but not sure where that goes. Will update if I hear back.

Check things like Ebay and other websites with used items. You'll have shipping costs, but maybe you can bid one cheap and cover them.  It won't help you now because though you can get them for cheaper than $60 to get it to you by Thursday would make the shipping costs prohibitive. But if you can find one you get for really cheap (they had buy it now for $30, with $15 shipping, so if you can bid for one, cheaper than that for sure), you might solve any future problems for an economical amount.

Does that mean it's on TNT?

Edit: if it's on CBS that must mean they're switching the scheduled times for the networks around.

My friends and I just discussed the palace is going to be a hornets nest. With half of the fans cheering there for Sparty They will all cheer against us during our game. Michigan State fan base is a sad scene of jealous people. That place is going to get downright nasty on Saturday if both Michigan and Michigan State play that day. We have a sweet that serves alcohol and I will be half Michigan State and half Michigan fans in it

Thursday will be fine, it's Saturday that well be interesting. Because there is only one session Saturday, if Michigan and msu both win there first round games, you will have to buy a ticket good for both games, meaning the fans will be very split.

The tickets come in two sessions on Thursday. I would guess there are a decent amount of MSU fans who will sell their evening sessions and UM fans who will sell their afternoon sessions. Going from 12:15 to literally close to midnight is a long day. People may try to get some of their money back when their team isn't playing. Saturday would be interesting with UM and MSU theoretically playing back to back.

It's probably much better for me that it is on at 7:15 PM on Thursday, although I was not above scheduling this game as a "meeting" with our office administrator and booking our conference room (with its 60-inch TV) if needed.
