Uniformz: Bullet Dodged

Submitted by Hard Gay on

As you may have heard, Michigan opted out of the long sleeve camo uniformz for March.  However, it appears adidas had planned on having Michigan wear them and even made them available for sale to the public.

Behold:

If you desire to own them, check out Eastbay: http://www.eastbay.com/product/model:201025/sku:75401032/adidas-college-impact-camo-premier-jersey-mens/michigan-wolverines/?cm=GLOBAL+SEARCH%3A+KEYWORD+SEARCH

At first glance, I thought the shorts were just very wrinkly.   Then I looked closer and remembered the camo-theme from a previous uniformz thread and ran to the bathroom to violently wretch.    Bullet dodged.   Thank goodness.

keep what we have as in what uniforms that change just about every game or the uniforms that change 3-4 times a season... I'm confused. because if you do what he said you'ld have a regular Michigan maize uniform

at least be honest.  The current uniforms are template garbage.  Our shorts looks to be created using some old mircosoft art program and the jerseys are way to busy.  They don't have sleeves and that is good, but they are a big downgrade from the uniforms of the last three or so years.  Michigan will have new uniforms next year.

think the shorts concept was all that bad, but wearing the jerseys with sleeves is just a big no. We would probably look more like a mens volleyball team more than anything with the jerseys.

Maybe everyone else has a fetish for athletes' sweaty armpit hair, but I actually like the sleeves. It's not a traditional basketball look, but I like it on Golden State, and I don't think I would mind it on Michigan.

The zubaz look on the pants and sleeves is terrible though. Whoever at adidas who keeps pushing it needs some style advice.

Adidas would do well to get a few young employees in their 20s on the design teams for all their stuff.  These things would have been cool on an elementary school playground in 1990.  I suspect that was the last time the people designing these uniformz were dressing their kids and they still think it's cool.  If the design team is younger than that then they just picked the wrong team.  Big time.

...and it's a classic look. Maybe we could bring back the two-hand set shot for a game, too. Or jump it up after every made hoop.

There's going to be a really happy local soccer team in Indonesia, when those remainders get boxed up and shipped out with the spare parts for the generators and the diesel fuel.  Their new name; the Trenggalek "Michigans."

Seriously, contemplate how many people - designers, marketing specialists, pollsters - were involved in creating the best-looking, hotest-selling uniformz for Addidas to make for the NCAA tournament...

... and they come up with these?????

Seriously, I know this is true, but I can't help but wait for a April Fools joke type of release.  These are hands down the worst alternate jerseys of any sport, of all time.

And they wanted UM to wear this crap?  And other Top 20 teams will be wearing them?

It's just unbelievable.

I am so fucking sad that MSU and OSU aren't Addidas.  I would have almost wanted them to win just to see them have to wear those shit-garments one more time.

I tried to go to the site and write a review at least as scathing as the ones dropped on Rosenberg's book, but alas, one needs to be logged into the site to do that.  It's almost worth it to create an account just for the sake of writing the review.

Great point.  My guess is that the head design guy, whoever he is, liked them and everybody else was afraid to say anything   That's usually how awful things like this happen.

And the irony is he'll probably now make his underlings life miserable because they didn't try hard enough to stop him.  Aint corporate life fun?

I don't even know what to say. Just wow, that's the worst I've seen yet and there have been some god-awful uniformz this year. Fuck this shit.
