I'm more excited about this hire after watching this video.
His personality, his directness, his genuine enthusiasm and warmth. He's going to fit with this coaching staff and connect with recruits in a big way.
Interview. His genuine excitment had me smiling at the screen. I'm happy as shit for this guy!
haha me too. I found myself smiling and then being a bit embarassed when my fiance asked what i was smiling about.
what if we had jerry m. and roy....? A whole lot of profit?
Yep, just like everyone else has said already, I'll echo it - really nice interview, charisma & genuine enthusiasm are a go with this one. Massive approval at this point. Looks like a great fit.
Sorry, not enough patience.
Great hire! Anyone know what territory he's gonna have? Take over for Montgomery? Or shuffling assignments?
with the million dollar smile. Kids are going to relate to him and be drawn to him I'm sure.
Who is this Gerg you speak of?
He traded in stuffed beaver and sundries. I'm surprised anyone remembers him.
Edit: Welcome Welcome Home, Roy Manning!
I was grinning by the end of that video - genuine enthusiasm always shines through.
Sort of kidding. Love this guy.
Loving this hire more and more. His attitude and gratefulness for having this opportunity is awesome and he just exudes Michigan. I can't wait for this season to start!
After everything I've seen on the guy, including the two videos below, this seems like a slam dunk hire.
After watching these videos, I am now worried about losing Roy to the NFL - as a player!
Gosh all I could think about after the first minute was how many times he said you know what I mean... you know what I mean.
- Great coach though, super excited. Looks like he'll bring ever more passion to the coaching staff.
I'm kidding, but I LOVE this interview...he's going to make a HUGE impact on this team. Can't wait to see COACH Manning getting after it. Jake Ryan, Cam Gordon, Frank Clark, Brennen Beyer, Mario Ojemudia, etc. are all in for a treat.
Dang. I'm smiling ear to ear watching this video. I couldn't be happier for Roy - a Michigan man - to be coaching at our school. Heartfelt welcome to him. Go Blue!!
That was the sound of a guy who is genuinely excited, and has a real love for the University of Michigan. Great guy. Great interview.
I was wondering about why get a lb to replce the dl coach. This interview sure does make this guy seem special. Like many I had a pretty big smile just watching it.
You can tell he's a quality guy. He is direct, respectful, anwsers questions clearly, he's excited and enthusiastic, and he's got a great smile. All good qualities. And, it doesn't hurt that he played here and played in the NFL too. I think he'll do just fine.
Roy looks like he could suit up right now and play the weak side.
with his character and love for the school,he will do very well. Him and Mike Hart will make a damn good duo on the recruting front in a couple of years.
I think Mr. Manning is going to be awesome during his time at Michigan and recruits are going to love this guy.
What a terrific young man. (Yes, I join the smile-watching-the-video brigade. My cheeks are still a-blush with smile.)
In an interview with Sam Webb that was broadcast earlier this morning on WTKA, Manning specifically mentioned Rich Rodriguez as playing a major role in his pursuit of the coaching profession. Manning said that after he was cut by the NFL he came back to Ann Arbor to train, and he said that he talked to RR numerous times about coaching and that Rich was extremely helpful, informative, and encouraging. WTKA will probably have the podcast of the interview segment by the end of the day.
to the Michigan coaching staff! Welcome home Coach Manning
