Recruiting Updates

Submitted by MJ14 on

Well I think we all could use a little good news after that loss tonight. So first let me start with the bad news and just get that out of the way.

According to Coach Brown from The M Block, we will not be getting Artavis Scott at Michigan.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, the good news.

@coachbrown3 who you think the next commit will be?

@jkillinit248 I think it maybe Tommy Doles. Who knows though, the Mone commitment kinda snuck up on me...tough to say.

Maybe...just maybe, on commit watch this weekend again. #goblue

Word on the street is both Mike Webber and Drake Harris are visiting this weekend. Harris was originally only coming back for the IU game, but according to 24/7 sports, he'll be in AA this weekend.

So because I'm a Junior at Indiana University, this somehow makes me not have sources who know things? Good logic there. And I am an Indiana University student, complete with an Indiana University student ID(campus access card), class schedule, email, and job at Rec Sports. It's like I'm a real human being and everything, oh wait.........

He then goes on to explain that Scott just isn't very high on Michigan. He'll likely stay in the south.

Yeah, so I see now on Coach Brown's twitter. I just hope it's not that Steve is upset because Coach Brown is now sharing free info he gets straight from recruits. He's also more connected with current commits then Steve it seems, so I'm just hoping Steve isn't mad over that kind of stuff. That would seem very petty and no I'm not trying to take a side or be mean. Just voicing a thought.

This is where you're definitely wrong. Coach Brown is very connected to Ferns. He's also connected to Harris. Coles also told him the night before he commited(and only him as far as "outsiders" go) that he would commit. He's also connected to Speight. So yes, maybe he doesn't have a good connection with Hand, but not every report is going to talk to every recruit. He also doesn't repost VIP stuff, that's a flat out lie. Please, show me where that's happened?

You seem to have a grudge against him as well, so why say Steve is the one? Steve said his piece and Coach Brown replied. Coach Brown has also talked to Steve and then Steve pretended like he was just some random guy. I think it's becoming more obvious that Steve is just upset about Coach Brown sharing stuff for free.

I don't have a dog in this fight. Coach Brown does this completely free. No revenue from site clicks, no ads, nothing to make him money. Everything he does is completely free. He does it because he enjoys it. So, like I said, I don't have a dog in this fight. I appreciate that Coach Brown shares stuff for free and it's not just reposting VIP stuff. So, even though I don't have a dog in this fight, I also won't let you just make up lies. Just because Steve is upset about it and makes baseless accusations doesn't make it concrete. So there's that. If you don't like that he shares info for free, and that I post it on here for others to read, that's fine. Just don't read the thread or reply. But don't come in making false accusations about something you don't know about. That's all besides the fact that Coach Brown doesn't have a VIP account anywhere that I know of, so how do you repost something you don't even have access to?

Also, you can neg me all you want. That doesn't make you right.

Or I just hate people misleading others? And saying false things that they don't really know anything about. Especially not when it seems like mainly it's just Steve being upset over the new guy on the block. Again, no hate towards Steve. I honestly don't care that much. I only typed that much because I'm trying to avoid my homework and I'm bored. IU stinks. And I also will never understand why people would dislike someone who shares free info, straight from recruits? I'm a poor college student, and I certainly don't have the money to pay for VIP stuff. So I can appreciate someone who is willing to take their own time and share info for free with others. Which is why I like MGoBlog so much, but man people around here seem really.....I don't even know how to describe it....lately.

You're promoting this site, and it sure seems unlikely that "Coach" Brown would do a lot of work just for fun given that "recruiting insider" can be a career. I don't pretend to know the truth or even care much, but people are hardly being overly cynical here.

I am only "promoting" it because he asked on facebook if anyone knew how to post threads on MGoBlog, because he didn't understand the point system. I offered to post some updates every once in a while as I saw fit, especially since it's free info. And he may have a job in mind at some point, but as it is, he's completely free and get's absolutely nothing. I really do come off caring much more than I do. I mean in actuality I don't even care a ton about most things in real life. So a guy I hardly know at all, on a message board, with people I don't know? I think it's just the principle of it for me. I would defend anyone who I think is getting an unfair shake, that's just the way I am.

I do not. How does that make me affiliated with him? I was just trying to him a favor, which in no way relates to me. Other than me copying some of the stuff I think is relevant to here. I literally could care less. I will continue sharing free info from him, because it's free. If I read something else for free, I share it as well, as long as it's good info. Regardless of who it came from.

Sorry, poor english on my part. I'm trying to avoid thinking to hard. I meant he may want to some day become a paid guy like Steve. I absolutely don't want to do anything like this at all. I am too busy doing school work and planning for my internship this summer. Then I'll be way too busy to ever be able to bother with trying to get ahold of recruits and stuff. It's just not my thing. Sorry if that was misunderstood, I absolutely will never have a recruiting related job.

First you sound like you're affiliated with coach brown. Second I didn't neg you so talk more. Third many of his reports come after reports from other sources. I'm not going to waste my time to find specific examples and post them here. I trust Steve and from what he has said it doesn't seem that he is just upset that coach brown is a free site, they have a free thread on 247 for example. Remember, Steve and his group came from the free sites and I doubt he has so quickly forgotten his roots.

I am not in any way affiliated with him. In fact, I do not know him outside of a facebook group we've both been on since like 2007, with thousands of members. You also just seem very upset for some reason? Which is what I don't understand? Why the hostility? And what makes you trust Steve so much more than Coach Brown? How much do you actually know about him? Probably not a whole lot in real life, correct?

I'm sure you don't care, but I'll offer my opinion anyway.

I don't dislike him personally (aside from him trolling for follows from me a couple of times), I just don't view him as a very good reporter.

He's a blatant homer...all the time. For example (s)

CA TE Tyler Luatua posted a pic on Instagram of a text conversation with Coach Brown. In it, he listed his top 5. Coach Brown responded by saying he can't stand the other 4, so Michigan was probably the best choice.

How can you trust him for objective info when he's pressuring the kids in such a homer-ish way? Can you imagine TomVH ever doing that?

A few other problems-

He called Damon Webb's commitment to OSU 'fishy'. Not because he had any proof, just because. A casual fan can get by doing that. But if you claim to be an objective reporter, baselessly suggesting that the kids you're interviewing are accepting benefits is probably not a good idea.

He has MSpeedKills working with him now- who just steals info from the 247sports VIP boards.

This sorta goes along with the Tyler Luatua thing, but here are some quotes from his site.

"Berger plans on going the pre-med route in school so to me the decision is crystal clear. "

"He told me he is really looking forward to it and knows it will be a good time.  I'm not sure about this, but I would assume that he and Alabi will head to Ann Arbor together so their plans will be very similar"
