Torrian Wilson to Stanford per Rivals profile
Per Torrian Wilson's Rivals profile, he has committed to Stanford as of today, listed as a solid verbal. I don't know if he's going to be taking his officials still, but obviously this sucks. He would have been a great get, and honestly I am surprised that he chose Stanford over The U (and us, of course).

What? I didn't even know he was considering them. Jimmah is doing a great job of recruiting at Standford.

I wonder who from his current class will no longer be committed after this week...
September 8th, 2009 at 9:37 PM ^
I'll bite...
September 8th, 2009 at 10:15 PM ^
me too ... why after this week?
September 8th, 2009 at 11:03 PM ^
He has "released" his Stanford scholarship offer to at least 3 recruits who were Stanford commits, so far this year. It always seemed to happen after a bigger name recruit made a verbal commitment to Stanford at the same position.
I always feel bad for recruits who were more committed to the school than the coaching staff was to them.

God damnit

Scout does not have this listed yet, but of the two, Rivals is usually the one that's less "OMG EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!!!!"
September 8th, 2009 at 8:04 PM ^
This means that "O" line will be a big area of need next year.
September 8th, 2009 at 10:29 PM ^
I don't know though. Our last two classes were stacked pretty thick. I mean, obviously you'd like 3 guys in every class that are good, but last year we got Taylor Lewan, who is hopefully thenext Jake Long, Michael Schofield who was a top 20 tackle, and quinton Washington, who was a top 10 guard. That's pretty decent. And the year before with Barnum, Mealer, Omameh, and Khoury, that's a pretty big O-line class.
I see that it is a big priority for next year, but no larger than it always is. And don't you think we'll land another guy or two in this class?
September 8th, 2009 at 8:05 PM ^
well that's unexpected
September 8th, 2009 at 8:06 PM ^
Wow...
September 8th, 2009 at 8:10 PM ^
Who the hell are we going to get now? Off the top of m yhead I cant think of another good OL prospect we are pursuing. DAMN!
September 8th, 2009 at 8:10 PM ^
F...ing me in the ear!
September 8th, 2009 at 8:13 PM ^
This sucks, but I doubt the race for him is over. If we put together a good season and Stanford sucks it up, I'm sure we will be back in it. Or at least I hope we'd get back in it.

The two listed on the board, Jackson and Schofield, are listed as "Sad Josh"- perhaps time to find at least one kid in-state. However, now that I look at the roster

We have quite a few young kids in the OL, didn't UM redshirt like 5 OL kids last season? Always sucks to lose a good recruit but no need to panic just yet.

I'll confirm
September 8th, 2009 at 8:34 PM ^
Reading this makes me feel creepy.
September 8th, 2009 at 8:43 PM ^
I'm assuming, or at least hoping, that he was kidding. An homage to "Fuck. Shit. Up." maybe?
September 8th, 2009 at 9:23 PM ^
The more I think about it, the more I think he's kidding.
I hope.
September 8th, 2009 at 9:21 PM ^
don't.

time to dust off the wizard hat and snake oil.
does he know our helmets have wings?
September 8th, 2009 at 8:38 PM ^
LARIOUS!!
September 8th, 2009 at 8:34 PM ^
I just kinda assumed he was going to be a 'Cane considering, you know, the HS he goes to.
September 8th, 2009 at 8:43 PM ^
Good catch for Harbaugh.
Cardinal are up and coming. I expect them to be in a bowl game this year. BIG swing game for that goal at Wake on Saturday.
September 8th, 2009 at 8:53 PM ^
Obviously, after losing Avery due to snake oil effects, they have come up with a powerful antidote at Stanford.
September 8th, 2009 at 8:55 PM ^
It's pretty obvious why isn't it?
Jim: You see this bathroom? This is a $60,000 fucking bathroom. I not only shit excellence, I shit IN excellence.
Torrian: Where do I sign?
September 8th, 2009 at 8:58 PM ^
Fuck me runnin'! I really thought we had a quality shot at this kid.
September 8th, 2009 at 9:02 PM ^
Eh, I'm less worried than I might be. Stanford has been clubbed over the head with decommitments this year. Something like five kids have decommitted. Courtney Avery decommitted. Louis Young decommitted twice. Lost in the idea that Harbaugh has been doing a great job of recruiting is that other coaches have been doing a great job of recruiting his recruits.
September 8th, 2009 at 9:15 PM ^
Wilson is really good friends with Avery and decided to commit to Stanford only to de-commit later to Michigan!
September 8th, 2009 at 9:09 PM ^
what other OL prospects are we in the running for?
This is a bad loss; although i don't believe it's even close to over
September 8th, 2009 at 9:43 PM ^
Was just thinking that we hadn't heard much about Torrian today.
I'll believe he committed to Stanford when I hear it from him, or it becomes common knowledge.
September 8th, 2009 at 10:37 PM ^
Why is everyone so pessimistic? It's obvious that we cooled off on him because the coaching staff probably saw that he wasn't good enough for Michigan.
(HARDCORE SARCASM)
September 9th, 2009 at 3:32 AM ^
his choice of Stanford means he is clearly serious about academics in addition to football. Maybe we are next on his list if he has second thoughts or reopens his recruitment for any reason.
September 8th, 2009 at 11:31 PM ^
isn't this a shit sandwich. He has about five months to change his mind.
September 9th, 2009 at 9:52 AM ^
I'm surprised. I figured the U would get him for sure.
