So. There's that.

For those of you who don't know, Bollman was Tressel's OC from 2001-11.

The fact that he was only at Purdue for a very short time makes him easier to replace, not harder. Also, is there really a better time of year to leave?

How long did Purdue think they were going to keep OSU's former OC as a position coach? In all seriousness, if I am Purdue's head coach and one of my position coaches gets offered the OC job at a better program for 2x-3x the salary, I'm not asking him to stay. I'd tell him he'd be a fool not to take it. Hazell, Dantonio and Bollman all worked together at OSU. I'd be very surprising if this move caused any hard feelings among the coaching staffs.

Does this mean that out routes will develop even slower for Michigan State now? I would also enjoy seeing the amusing return of the slowly developing inside run for no gain, as well as a smattering of false starts. If you're going to hire Bollman, hire classic Bollman. In any case, I expect State to have the most practiced punter in the Big Ten now - he'll get more than his fair share of chances now.

Jim Bollman was the most wildly incompetent OC in the B1G. They suceeded because they recruited great athletes and Tressel called the plays. Bollman called their plays in 2011 and I can only hope the lulz extend to East Lansing.

If you don't have twitter, now is a good time to get an account... Here's a sample of the internet reaction:

Matt Hinton @MattRHinton: Mark Dantonio, world's most boring sadist.

Adam Rittenberg @ESPN_BigTen: Um, alrighty then RT @footballscoop: Sources tell us Jim Bollman is expected to accept the Michigan State OC job

EDSBS @edsbs: The wildlife conservationist in me thanks Mark Dantonio for opening his walrus preserve. The football fan in me is horrified."

Is putting the band back together. Next, he will hire Tressel as a football "consultant" with a pay scale that makes him ostensibly Dantonio's head coach. The transformation will be complete.

TROLOLOL.

Thought maybe will all the investments they've made in their facilities (WOO BIG SCOREBOARDS FOR MORE ADS!) they would shell out for a decent OC. Pleased as punch to find that's not the case.
