A lot can happen from now until tourney time. All Michigan can do is win every game.
And the good thing is, IF Michigan wins out, they'll easily get a 1 seed. Woo!

So if/when Michigan beats Indiana at home, will that put Michigan at #1 in Midwest?

I think whichever school did better in the btt would get the Midwest region.

Gotta take care of business first, gentlemen. Damnit i can't wait until the tourney, it's gonna be fucking insane. Madness..if you will.

Right on the nose. A little alliteration march madness.

But to me (possibly cuz growing up I remember watching some great races in the 80's before the B1G tourney), there's nothing like these last two weeks of a heated regular season title race.
We need Morgan to stay healthy the rest of the way. Go Blue!

The drama!

All that matters are those games vs MSU and IU. We could be ranked #1 right now but if we lose both, we're down to a 2 or possibly a high 3.

I sometime I like to be that guy. We have to win the road games too. If all that mattered were msu and IU there's no sense in this team traveling to happy valley tomorrow right. They all matter. Each one more than the last and the next.

Err, we also need to beat Penn State and Purdue on the road. I know they sound like "gimmies" but Illinois and now Minnesota have both taken down #1 Indiana, so, road games are tough. There are no gimmies in the Big Ten this year, even Penn State only lost by 8 at our place!
Every game is important from hereon out (not that it wasn't before, it's just, a bit more important now).

I hope they learned from their mistake of losing to Purdue at home last year
February 27th, 2013 at 6:56 AM ^
Play one at a time. Purdue on the road will be dicey and Penn State is going to win eventually.
February 27th, 2013 at 7:54 AM ^
Do the users of mgoblog need to win one game at a time? Who are we even playing? Am I on the team too??

Yeah. Hi this is Trey Burke and without you guys I wouldn't have remembered to take each game one at a time, but now I will. Thanks for the help.

Thanks

Penn Sta... oh. nm

I don't see any possessive pronouns in his statement, so I'm not sure he considers himself part of the team at all. Are you trying to ESPiN him?

Over at TeamRankings, they still have Michigan as a #3, but rather than a take a snapshot as Lunardi does, they run simulated seasons and take the average rankings from those. As far as I can tell, they do it every couple days as results and statistics update for teams. For the Big Ten, here's what their seeding projections look like this morning:
#1 - Indiana (projected record of 26-5, 67% chance of being a 1-seed)
#3 - Michigan (projected record of 26-5, 8% chance of being a 1-seed, but 82% chance of being a top 4 seed)
#3 - Michigan State (projected record of 24-7, 4% chance of being a 1-seed, but 78% chance of a top 4 spot)
They also have Wisconsin as a #4 with about a 50/50 shot at being a top 4 seed. They put Minnesota as a #5, Ohio State as a #6 and Illinois as a potential #9.

Appreciate the alternate rankings but not sure i totally understand; this late in the season the number three team in the county (ie currently sitting on a one seed) can't possible have a less than one in ten chance of staying there, can they?
February 27th, 2013 at 9:38 AM ^
When they have to play Indiana, MSU, and likely another gauntlet in the BTT they do. I think the odds are on us as a #2 seed.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:57 AM ^
It may not be the worse thing to end up as a 2, if that's what ends up happening - depending on matchups. It may be a better matchup to be 2 with gonzaga as the 1 vs. being a 1 with florida as the 2.

There is still a lot of basketball left to be played. My recommendation: become the world's biggest BYU fan tomorrow, and hope that BYU or St Mary''s can beat Gonzaga in the WCC tournament. Gonzaga is a top 25 team that is getting a #1 seed because they haven't cut their fingers squashing any WCC tomato cans this season.

the moment they have to play a decent team in the Tourney, they will lose.
I'm thinking they don't make it past the round of 32.....so no sweet sixteen for them, it's going to be tough for them when all of the sudden they play someone who has any game on a thurs/sat or fri/sun. But of course that will depend on how easy their bracket could be.
