We have to concentrate on Penn State first

As one of the guys sitting in Crisler two Sundays ago wondering why, with only about 5:00 left to play, we weren't seeing Blake McLimans and the rest of the bench getting some garbage minutes; I think we would be foolish to look past the Nittany Lions.

They are terrible, but wanting to avoid a winless conference season is a powerful motivator. One game at a time.

We own...Penn State. Now make it happen.

Here's the tiebreaker:

http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/110512aac.html

It doesn't look good.  If we're tied with just IU at the end, it goes to record against the next best team and then working your way down.  If they get to MSU (or OSU assuming IU wins) then we lose.

If it's Wisconsin involved, we lose (as would IU).

If both, then we're 3rd as you'd use head to head first, which puts Wisky #1.  Then the same procedures as above for IU.

I know we got a share last year because we split with MSU and Ohio, and they got a share too. But since Wisconsin has the lead in the series don't they break the tie? Can somone look into this? I don't wanna celebrate until I know for a fact we control our fate...

It's all about seeding.  Head-to-head has nothing to do with the final standings.  You get a share of the conference title as long as you're at least tied with the top team in the conference.

It was the same rule in football before we got divisions and a title game.  In 2000, we shared the conference title with the 2 teams that beat us.

The B10 title is solely based on record.  If Mich, IU, and Wisco all tied, Wisco would be the #1 seed in the B10 Tourney but all 3 would be regular season champs.  Wisco only had to play IU and Michigan once which made their schedule much easier than ours or Indiana's.

As far as I'm concerned, if we win the B1G Tittle game, great, but I'd almost rather be well rested and make a run for the National Championship instead. Both tournaments will be hell to win and we already proved we can hold our own against the rest of the Big Ten. The only positive I see is if Indiana, MSU or us wins the B1G tournament, then I believe they're/we're a guarenteed one seed.

should win tomorrow at  Penn St, setting up a huge game with little bro.  Think if we win both IU and MSU we gotta be a lock for a 1 seed.  (Disclaimer- thats a big IF)

Thank God. Ain't no way ohio was gonna beat them in bloomington.

Just win out guys and it's ours. Thankfully the two toughest games left are at home. But they CAN NOT take ANYONE lightly. Not penn state, not purdue, not anyone.

We all remember what purdue did last year. That is a trap game being on the road. Just take care of business the rest of the way guys.

I don't want to know your name. All I want is bang bang bang.

I like banging...

Go ahead.

But, MSU and the Indiana Clown Pants are tough foes, even if we play at Crisler.

I will say Wisco screwed with us but they also did help by handing Indiana one of their three losses.

If Wisco loses that game we'd be in hot water right now. I know we should have gotten that win but I am happy we are in control of our own destiny.

Now have to handle PSU because they took it to us in Crisler and can beat us if we don't bring our A game.

As of this moment, my (relatively optimistic) mind believes that we are even money to win (a share of) the BIG regular season title. In all likelihood we would have to win out but it is always great to control your own destiny while also having home court advantage (for the key games).

Wisconsin also plays next week @ MSU, who will hopefully be pissed off from losing to Michigan on Sunday. Anything can happen, especially with Wisconsin, but I don't see them coming out of Breslin with a win. Which will put them at 5 losses for the season, taking them out of the B1G championship (unless crazy things happen).

We control our destiny, no doubt about it. If M wins out, we'll be tied with Indiana at 14-4, everyone else will have five losses or more.

....Trevor Mbakwe uses his own coach to celebrate, and all is right with the world for the time being...

The funny thing about this game - statistically, Minnesota loses the shooting battle in terms of overall efficiency, but talk about timely shooting, and it's all Gophers. They deserve this celebration  as it helps my alma mater.

On another positive note, Tennessee is giving Florida a game (UT has the lead at Halftime). We might get help on both the BIG championship and NCAA tournament fronts tonight!

I'm not convince that Indiana isn't going to lose to Ohio State before they make thier way to Ann Arbor.  After that we just have to hope little brother takes care of Wisconsin at home and we won't have to worry about all this tiebreaker stuff.  That is of course assuming we take care of business.

We've still got a lot of work to do but it is great to control everything. Can't wait until the weekend.

Beat Penn State! And F Ben Brust!

We have total control over our overall NCAA seed as well. If we won out we would have beaten MSU, Indiana and then something along the lines of Illinois, MSU and Indiana again in the BTT if we were the #2 BTT seed. That's a lot to ask...but if it happened it would give us the best resume in college basketball. Next two weeks are gonna be crazy.
